reports that Tansian University, Umunya in Anambra State on Saturday, March 14th,
matriculated about 201 fresh students for 2014/2015 academic session.
Speaking at the 8th matriculation
ceremony held in the university permanent site, Umunya, the Vice Chancellor,
Prof. Chima Iwuchukwu disclosed that the institution has zero tolerance for
indolence and lack of enthusiasm in academic responsibilities required of all
staff and students.
Prof. Iwuchukwu, who spoke on a topic entitled “The
New Down”, advised the newly admitted students to face their studies
squarely, adding that a balance between academic achievement and moral
development is highly desirable condition for a graduate of the university to
be found worthy both in character and learning.
His words: “Our University is striving to bring
about education for global competitiveness and wealth creation. For this
reason, the units for entrepreneurial studies, religious practices as well as
social engagements of Tansian University are available for the students to
develop into well groomed individuals, who will competitively thrive
successfully in any circumstances they may find themselves after graduation.”
“I see you as prime beneficiaries of a new dawn for
renaissance and deep reflection of positive, moral, infrastructural, academic
and systemic overhaul and at the same time beneficiaries of present day
transformational developments and strides being currently experienced in this
university”, he concluded.
While urging students to stick towards perfection
of their primary assignments on campus, which according to him, were academic,
social and moral development, the Vice Chancellor stressed that the university
frowned at all forms of vandalism, drunkenness, hooliganism, cultism, indecent
dressing, among other vices, even as he charged students to identify with the
Dean of Student Affairs for help at anytime.
In an interview with www.odogwublog.com , the
Visitor/Chancellor of Tansian University, Msgr. Prof. Johnbosco Akam expressed
satisfaction over the massive development ongoing in the university, stressing
that they were in tune with the objectives envisaged by the founders, even as
he averred that they would continue to soar higher.
