Over 200 Retired ABS Staff send SOS to Governor Obiano to pay them their gratuity

Over 200 retired staff of the Anambra state Broadcasting Service (ABS) Awka has sent in a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to Governor Willie Obiano over their predicament since retirement.

They had mobilized themselves on Saturday for a peaceful protest for the Governor to notice them during the flag of construction of digital studio at ABS premises before it was moved to Tomorrow Monday by noon.

 The retirees who are owed arrears of Gratuity are hopeful the Governor will at the event make a pronouncement about their predicament.

Information available to www.odogwublog.com showed that the event was shifted for Governor Obiano to inquire on the situation of the retirees and that he would make a pronouncement Monday on that as he has already briefed the Chairman and members of the Board on what to do and see the retirees go home with their gratuity.

It would be recalled that www.odogwublog.com reported that many of the retirees are already dead sequel to deprivation with many others sick ,but they are hopeful that since Obiano cleared the arrears owed water corporation and other organizations , that of ABS will be announced today judging by Obiano’s disposition to workers since his assumption of office.

An insider in government house who did not want to be mentioned told www.odogwublog.com that ‘’Obiano was shocked when he was briefed on the situation of the pensioners and  has assured that they would smile tomorrow Saturday as he flags off the installation the digital transmitters of the ABS.

‘’That  was more reason he equally constituted a Board for the ABS to enable them resolve issues of past workers and management who are still being owed as well as other rank and file. Many of them turned up at the ABS 30^TH anniversary and complained bitterly about the neglect of their efforts that sustained the station up till now. 

These people are indeed crying and wailing and if Obiano did not say about it in his speech then it is mortuary for many others and their families have been suffering .... 

When contacted , the Chairman of the ABS retirees , Ichie Okonkwo could not confirm the issue as network was terrible bad.
