Okija boils: Two dead, two policemen, 17 injured ----As thugs attack Obijackson (Repeat but from new point of view)

No fewer than two persons working as INEC adhoc staff were feared dead when armed thugs suspected to be working for two political heavyweights attacked a collation centre at Ihiala council headquarters resulting in death of two polling agents even as a business mogul and philanthropist, Dr. Ernest Obiejesi Azudialu escaped death by the whiskers.

It was gathered that trouble started when the political heavyweights suspected to be strong members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP stormed the collation centre, allegedly descended on the INEC officials before taking the results of the election for House of Representatives election in Okija ward.

During the crisis, the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of Nestoil, Dr. Ernest Azudialu Obiejesi (Obi Jackson) was attacked by armed men suspected to be a group of political thugs allegedly led by an oil magnet, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba and the PDP national Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metu.

He further said “We had a very peaceful election in Okija yesterday and Mr. President won overwhelmingly. Our people have a candidate for the House of Representatives who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and our people voted for him equally so he won. Then early this morning (yesterday) the man who says he is organizing rallies for Mr. President stormed Okija with over 150 armed thugs. When I met them in the hall, Ifeanyi Uba was holding some ballot papers and when I enquired from him while he came to my ward; he started abusing me saying that we were planning to rubbish Mr. President”

“As I was still asking him how, he pushed me and Olisa Metu joined him, they started assaulting me and my security men were just on ground to save me from their grip. I escaped and entered into my vehicle and they started shooting at my car. As I am talking to you, I would have been a dead man by now if my car was not protected, they actually came to kill me”

“They came to attack me because they probably have collected money from one woman who is working with Pencom, elder sister to one of my boys that I supported to the House of Assembly who is now PDP candidate for Ihiala federal constituency but he lost because my people voted for APGA for that seat. I am a very strong member of PDP and we delivered President Goodluck Jonathan 100 percent, so, the attack on my life was a deliberate attempt to kill me”

He said that when the armed men began shooting, there was confusion as everybody started scampering to safety and two persons suspected to be INEC adhoc staff were hit by the bullets and they were rushed to the hospital where they were confirmed dead while two policemen also on duty were seriously injured by the rampaging political thugs.

“As I ran for my dear life, Ifeanyi Uba and Olisa Metu forcefully took the result of the election away and till now, we are still in confusion of how he could come from Nnewi to decide what is happening in Okija since we are not in the same constituency at the federal level. I want to call on President Goodluck Jonathan to look into this matter and call Ifeanyi Uba to order” he said.

Reacting to the allegations, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba who is the Coordinator of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN said he received information that Okija community was working against President Jonathan’s re-election bid and stormed there and they were attacked by Obi Jackson’s group.

“I went there because he has been abusing A.B.C Orjiakor there and when I got there, he was busy working against Mr. President and I taught him a lesson. His thugs first attacked us and of course I went there with my own thugs and we beat them, stripped some of naked and even had it on video”

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Uche Eze confirmed the incident and however said he had not received the details of casualties at the time of this report but confirmed that two policemen were injured in the incident. Ends
