Oduah to provide solar-powered lights, bore holes for farm settlement communities, when elected

The PDP Senatorial Candidate for Anambra North, Princess Stella Oduah, has assured

farm settlement communities in Ogbaru council of solar-powered lights and bore holes, when elected. 

Oduah said this when the Princess Stella Oduah Campaign Organisation (PSOCO) visited the farming island community of Agwe-Obikwere near Ogwuikpele community in Ogbaru council in Anambra on yesterday.

She also assured of giving the people farm settlements in the senatorial zone soft money grants to buy more yam seedlings, cassava stems and rice seeds to expand their farms.

``It is clear that the people of Agwe-Obikwere are hard working farmers and you look well nourished, healthy and happy.

``On your pre-occupation, which is farming I would make provision for small credit grant for you to expand your farms.

``However, I have seen you lacked basic social amenities such as good drinking water, electricity and basic school for the teeming children in this island community.

``Within my first year as a senator, I would sink solar-powered bole holes that would be sited on each hamlet of this community.

``As well as provide solar-powered lights mounted in strategic locations of the island to give constant light at night hours.

``While I would liaison with Church leaders in Ogbaru to see how possible to set-up a primary school here for your children to access formal education,’’ she said.

Responding, one of the island community elders, Chief Dennis Obindu, prayed that Oduah’s aspiration would come to pass.

``It has not happened in this farm settlement island to have a politician come around to know how we are doing and promise us a better tomorrow.

``My daughter, we are solidly behind you and since most of us had collected our permanent voters card.

``We live and do things here with one mind; so as I am voting for you every other person must queue behind me and the rest of the elders,’’ Obindu said.

Highlights of the visit were the distribution of rechargeable radio, rechargeable torch-lights, wrappers, mosquito nets as well as PDP branded umbrellas, T-shirts, caps and fliers, which give graphic detail on how to thumb print on PDP umbrella logo.
