The governorship candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has described the
forthcoming elections in the state
as an opportunity for the people to put an
end to the Governor Rotimi Amaechi administration.
Describing Amaechi’s administration as a
failed one, Wike explained that the people of the state were determined to put
an end to the unpleasant days of the current administration in the state.
Speaking on Monday during his campaign tour
of Wards 15, 16 and 17 in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Wike said the
failure in infrastructural development, rural development and basic amenities
would be addressed under his administration.
The governorship candidate assured the people
of the state that he would stop the seizure of lands from them by the Amaechi
administration.
“This election is about stopping the negative
legacies of Amaechi and setting Rivers State on the path to development. The
people have made it clear that they are supporting PDP because this is the only
way to speedy development,” he said.
Wike expressed gratitude to Akpor people for
always supporting his political alliances and promised to rehabilitate the link
roads in the area.
He also promised to improve internal roads
within the area, adding that the blackmail adopted by Amaechi and his
associates will not dislodge the PDP.
Wike urged the people to vote President
Jonathan and other PDP candidates, saying Nigerians will not allow the country
to be dragged backwards by the APC and General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.)
