Ngige, others reconcile warring APC stalwarts in Anambra

The dispute between two stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Mr. Stanley Okeke and  Chibuzor Obiakor over the party’s
House of Representatives ticket, has been resolved following the intervention of Senator Chris Ngige.
Mr.  Okeke, a House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the APC had taken the party to court to seek redress, following an alleged manipulation of the primaries in Idemili North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra, which produced Mr.  Obiakor as the party’s candidate.
The meeting, which took place at the palace of the Igwe of Nkpor, Chief Christopher Ibegbunam II, on Friday, March 13, was at the instance of Senator Ngige’s elder sister, Mrs. Berne Nwachukwu, whom it was said had also prevailed on Okeke to withdraw the matter from court.
At the reconciliatory meeting, Ngige, who is South-east  Coordinator for Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Campaign, along with other stakeholders of the APC in the state reconciled the two warring politicians.
Following the development, it is expected that Okeke would withdraw his suit against Obiakor’s nomination today. Those in attendance during the meeting included Senator Ngige, Tony Muonagor, member representing Idemili North Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Nwachukwu and Okeke.
Okeke, who spoke with journalists, said he was satisfied with the outcome of the meeting and would withdraw the case from the Federal High Court in Anambra. “The Igwe, Senator Ngige, his sister and the leader of our party in Idemili North and South, who is the Minority Leader in the state House of Assembly, Tony Muonagor, asked me to step down and I have agreed.
“I have decided to withdraw the matter from the court and will not be seeking any further redress. I am satisfied with the outcome of the meeting and how the elders resolved the matter between me and Obiakor.”
In a bid to present a formidable front and work towards delivering South-east votes to Gen. Buhari, Okeke has been made a member of the Buhari Campaign Council in Anambra State.
