The Nigeria Football Federation has
declared that as far as it is concerned, no elections have yet taken place into
the executive boards of the Football Associations of Anambra and Akwa Ibom
States.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Member
of the NFF Executive Committee and chairman of the State FA Elections
Monitoring Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau dismissed reports sent in by the two
States that elections have been conducted.
“There have been no elections in Anambra and
Akwa Ibom States. In the case of Anambra State, what we have is the issue of
factionalization, which we believe will be resolved in a few days.
“As for Akwa Ibom State, the NFF
sent a letter to the FA to postpone the elections that were scheduled for
Saturday, 28th February, because we received several petitions from various
stakeholders in the State, who complained of being disenfranchised as the
electoral process lacked transparency.
“In view of the above, we state
categorically that no election has taken place in the two States. Presently,
our record shows that elections are yet to take place in Adamawa, Yobe, Enugu,
Anambra and Akwa Ibom States.”

reports that it was in the news that Newly re-elected chairman of Anambra FA,
Mike Umeh, is on cloud nine due to the caliber of men he has on the board to
work with in the next four years.Umeh stated Sunday in Lagos that he is particularly impressed with the election of Ifeanyi Ubah as his vice chairman, noting that Ubah’s entry would bring transformation and take Anambra football to the next level.
“The election has been conducted, won and lost and I am very impressed with the quality and calibre of personalities that made the Exco. I won’t have asked for more.
“However, I am particularly impressed with the emergence of Chief Ifeanyi Ubah as my vice. We all know the stuff he is made of in this country.
“Teaming up with Chief Ubah means that sports in Anambra State will soon witness tremendous transformation. As a game changer, I have no iota of doubt that he would bring the experiences and deft touches he applied in other areas of human endeavour to bear in running football in Anambra State. It is good news and good tidings to have him on board and I know we will never remain the same,” Umeh noted.
The new Anambra FA board also has seasoned football administrators like Friday Nwankwo Kujah, fondly called Soccer Ambassador, Barrister Ody Ikpeazu, who is the proprietor of famous soccer outfit, Ikpeazu Redoubtable and Mr. Victor Nwangwu, who served in the NFF appeals committee.
Other members of the board include Prince Donatus Mbaezue, Mrs Cordelia Akanna, Harrison Okagbue and Ezenwankwo Francis.
