Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital gets Community Health Insurance scheme



www.odogwublog.com reports that an Idemmili community based health Insurance scheme has been launched at Iyi-Enu mission Hospital , Ogidi, Idemmili North local government area of Anambra state .

The Scheme which is supervised by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, also has pro-health Organization and Avon as partners.
The first phase of Shell health intervention at the hospital was the donation of five dialysis machines and a mammography for breast screening.

Speaking shortly after signing the memorandum of understanding among the Shell company, Iyienu hospital pro-health and Avon health managers, the Bishop on the Niger and proprietor of Iyienu hospital, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo while expressing gratitude to Shell for its health intervention in the mission hospital emphasized what the state government has done to reposition the hospital.
In his speech, the Managing Director of Shell Mr. Tony ATTA, represented by Mr. Kalu Diri, said Shell health intervention in hospitals started in 2010 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. 
He said the choice of Iyienu hospital is  due to its record in providing qualitative healthcare to the people.
Contributing, the regional community health manager Shell, sub Sahara Afr  ica Dr. Babatunde Fakunle, emphasized that those willing to enroll are  expected to pay twelve thousand naira per annum which, he said, will cover all the health challenges that  might arise for the year.
He called on the people of Idemili and beyond to key into the programme to benefit from the scheme.
The Commissioner for Health Dr. Joe Akabuike, represented by the acting Director of Medical Services in the Ministry Dr. Nathan Ojekwu, restated the state government’s commitment to providing health care, expressing gratitude to Shell for rendering a helping hand.
On their parts, the representative of Avon and pro-health organization Dr. Sandra Achebe and Dr. Chinedu Nnasihe, said as partners, they were creating the awareness and enrolling interested persons into the scheme.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Idemili Community health insurance scheme Dr. Sir Ike Okonkwo, stated that the scheme came to the limelight in 2013 when Shell included such a scheme in its health interception programme, expressing optimism that the scheme would be sustained.


One of beneficiaries, Reverend Uche Nwonye attested to the genuineness of the scheme.
Others that spoke include the Chairman, Iyienu hospital Board Sir Ikechukwu Onyechi, the administrator Mr Okwuosa and Igwe Christopher Ibegbunam of NKpor.
The highpoint was the commissioning of a dental clinic by Bishop Nwokolo.
