Igbo Youths Endorse President Jonathan, Umeh…congratulates Gov. Obiano

www.odogwublog.com reports that ahead of next week’s general elections, groups under the aegis of the Anambra Youth Forum (AYF) have endorsed the candidacy of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the 2015 general election for having performed creditably.

The youths from Anambra Central Senatorial District reached this consensus at their one-day youth summit on the theme: Governance and Democracy in Nigeria- The role of Igbo Youths which held at the King David Hotel yesterday.

In a communiqué adopted after the programme, the summit resolved that the president has done creditably well for Nigeria especially in the area of Infrastructural development such as roads, ensuring remarkable improvement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of elections and most importantly for the convocation of National Conference through which Nigeria will be equitably restructured to stabilize the country, hence endorsed him for re-election for a second tenure in office in  order to implement fully the resolutions of the National Conference.

The youths highly commended the governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano for performing so well in office within a short time in area of security, drastic reduction of crime, Youth empowerment and for giving human infrastructure immediate attention among other achievements.

The summit also endorsed the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial candidate in the zone, Senator Victor Umeh to represent the zone which according to them is for him to finish his superlative performance as a carryover from the National conference. According to the communiqué, this will put him in a vantage position to push for the full implementation of the resolutions from the National conference among other issues.

Earlier in his address, the chairman, Board of Trustees of the AYF, Engr. S.O Okafor advised Igbo youths to make education a priority as well as being law abiding, not forgetting having the fear of God before venturing into politics. According to him, Education enables one possess the critical and analytical mind to participate effectively in National discourse.

Okafor further prevailed on the government to provide a talent based education which will positively engage the minds of the prevailed on the government to provide a talent based education which will positively engage the minds of the youths to be agents of empowerment and change in the society. He decried the loss of the core Igbo values since the unfortunate civil war and urged youths to retrace their steps and do those things that will make the Igbo nation to attract respect nationally. He urged the youths to distance themselves from every manner of electoral violence and thuggery.

High point of the occasion was the inauguration of the executive members of the AYF led by Chris Ezeomenaka.
