reports that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
candidate, Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari, retd,
would on Monday in Onitsha
participate in a town hall meeting with the Organised Private Sector.
The town hall meeting is aimed at
addressing some critical policy issues as regards business and industry in the
South East and its strategic importance to Nigeria.
The event which is being convened by
the Presidential Campaign Council, Anambra State is expected to hold
on March 23, 2015 in Abuja.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Awka,
the Chairman, Presidential Campaign Council for Anambra State, Barrister Chima
Okafor said that the event was geared at showcasing General Muhamadu
Buhari's policy thrust as regards business and industry, sectors where the Igbo
race feature prominently
His words: ‘’For the purpose of
educating our people, from the five South East States,on the economic agenda of
General Muhamadu Buhari , we have planned this event in the commercial town of
Onitsha in order to ensure that our candidate bares his mind on how
he intends to restore the manufacturing capacity and the industrial glory of the
South East region of Nigeria."
”We want the businessman and
industrialists who have been baring the brunt of poor infrastructure ,
insecurity, poor micro and macro economic policies and finally the rapid
drop of the value of the Naira as against the Dollar, to come
and engage General Buhari and see how his policies will transform the
South East region into the tiger of Africa."
"We have reached out to these
captains of industry, because as creators of economic value, they are essential
in the change promise of the APC."
‘’The South East used to be the
industrial engine of the nation, unfortunately past governments have not been
able to implement policies that will rejuvenate the area and tap into the
entrepreneurial spirit of the people, this I believe the Buhari administration
will help achieve. it is the essence of the programme. "
