Breaking News: Elechi gets parting gift..accepts to collapse LP into PDP

Respite seems to have come the way of the embattled Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi as he has been given parting gift by the Presidency

to allow his first son, Elechi Elechi who is contesting for Ebonyi central senatorial zone election scale through on the platform of Labour Party, LP, reports www.odogwublog.com .

As it stands now, information available to us from the Presidential Villa said that the recent development arose as part of peace pact struck between Governor Elechi and his deputy, Chief Dave Umahi who incidentally is the governorship candidate of PDP.

It was further gathered that that part of the truce was to allow Elechi’s son scale through in the 28t March Presidential and National Assembly election on the platform of LP after which he will defect back to PDP while others standing election at various levels on the platform of Labour Party, LP will be sacrificed and forced to collapse back into PDP.

However, as at the time of this report, it was not exactly clear if Governor Elechi had accepted all the conditions given him by President Jonathan and the leader of the Peace and Reconciliatory Committee, Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue state of which the total dismantling of LP party machinery topped the list.

The source also disclosed that as it stands now, the governorship candidate of LP, Chief Edward Nkwegu may have been seriously warned by the Presidency to swallow his ambition or face further prosecution by anti graft agencies over alleged misappropriation of contract funds running into billions of naira.

Meanwhile, there is tension in various quarters of LP across the state over the fate of all the candidates of the party at all levels since Elechi’s son had been subtly absolved by the PDP to get the senatorial seat.

Some of the major candidates of the party who have been unofficially briefed of the plot to scatter them and collapse them into PDP especially from Afikpo North and South council areas have been alleged to stage a walk-out of the meeting and vowed to pitch their tent with the  candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Julius Ucha.

The Izzi Nodo clan on their own side have been said to have been waiting quietly for the official collapse of Labour Party, LP into PDP especially now that one of their sons is the candidate of the party.

Mr. Mgbabu Nwiboko said the last thing the Izzi people will do will be allowing Elechi to usE them and dump them as usual by collapsing them into PDP again after their experience in his administration.

He said the Izzi people though good in-laws to Governor Elechi shall resist the move and instead of re-joining PDP, they would prefer to join forces with APC to scuttle the move by the presidency to stop LP candidates and ridicule them during the election.

The PDP senatorial candidate for Ebonyi central, Chief Obinna Ogba on his own side may have vowed to stop any move by the Abuja group to sacrifice his mandate because of Elechi’s son and may be ready to play the spoilers’ game if the event truly turns out to be true.

By this, political watchers posited that it may spell doom for both, LP and PDP and the beneficiary of the imbroglio could be the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Prof Ben Odoh.
