reports that the Director of Contact and Mobilization of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Anambra,
Mr Dozie Ikedife (Jnr)
yesterday in Nnewi assured that General Muhammadu Buhari's landslide victory in
Anambra and other South Eastern States was a rested case.
His assumption is "based on
comparative analysis and what the Igbo needs now. He said the victory would not
be less than 90%’’.
Mr Ikedife , son of former Anambra
Ohaneze Boss Dr Dozie Ikedife said time had come when the Igbo would face the
reality devoid of sentiments in their political decisions. He said that President
Goodluck Jonathan had not done much for the Igbo to deserve their votes for a
second tenure.
Mr Ikedife cited road
infrastructure, housing and needed federal presence as some of the areas he
said the Igbo were neglected in the scheme of things. He argued that Ebele and
Azikiwe that were added to the name of President Jonathan should only be seen
as a political gimmick, saying that if President Jonathan had Azikiwe as one of
his names, he should not have left the Great Zik's mausoleum uncompleted many
years after his burial.
He said that the major mission for
Buhari’s coming back to power was to stop monumental corruption which he said
had characterized Jonathan's administration.
"President Jonathan gave us the
impression in 2011 that he was an Igbo man and we voted for him. He used second
Niger Bridge then for his campaign and we all thought he was serious to do the
project but all to nothing. He is using it again this time. No, it can't work.
We have understood his antics. We rather need a change, sentiment apart,"
Ikedife explained.
On whether Buhari is not too old to
return to power, he said: "My father is about 85 years old, yet he is
still active as a medical doctor. He performs surgery that can last for four
hours without getting tired because he is still very strong and articulate.
Many world leaders today are far older than Buhari. Look Robbert Mugabe, he is
89; Queen of England is in her 80s and so many examples like that. Buhari is
still a little boy at 72 and you should know that age is a question of number.
Commenting on the experimented INEC
card reader, he said that the PDP was afraid to use the machine as it would not
allow it to rig the election.
