SURE-P is Weapon Against Poverty, Not Job for the Boys

The Coordinator of the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme in Ekiti State, Chief  Femi Akinyemi, has said the Federal Government pays  a  monthly stipend worth  N32 million to 3,000 beneficiaries of the scheme in the State .

He dispelled the insinuation by the opposition All Progressives Congress that the programme was a conduit pipe to loot the treasury  or mere political patronage for members of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a chat with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, Akinyemi commended the FG for initiating the programme, saying it has helped in
stemming the tide of unemployment in the country.
Akinyemi added that the employment of the youths to perform some communal jobs under the scheme had helped in checking the rising wave of  criminality in the State.
