Police Area Commander seeks media cooperation in war against criminals in Onitsha

The newly posted Area Commander in-charge of Onitsha Police Area Command in Anambra State, Mr. Philip Ezekiel, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP

has  solicited for a closer cooperation between the police and the media in the on-going war against criminal elements and criminalities in the commercial city, for an optimum result reports www.odogwublog.com .

The call was contained in a brief remarks he made in his office during an interactive session with newsmen shortly on assumption of office..

According to him, without a cordial relationship between the media and the police, a lacuna could be created to an extent that there would be no meaningful achievement in the areas of security, since both the police and the media were partners in progress.

Ezekiel who hails from Tella, Taraba state, has served in several police commands and formations before his recent promotion from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP to ACP and transferred to Onitsha as the new Area Commander from Ozubulu Police Division, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state where he was serving as the Divisional Police Officer, DPO.

Ezekiel expressed satisfaction with the cooperation he received from newsmen so far on assumption of office, adding, “I was impressed with the cooperation I received from gentlemen of the press from the very first day I set my foot into Onitsha".

“In fact they made me to sit up and know that he to whom much is given, much is expected from him and I must say that it is by God’s Grace that I am here today in Onitsha as the new area commander and it is on this note that I am warning all the criminal elements to leave Onitsha for me or have a change of heart in their own interest".

I never lobbied for this promotion or posting but I believe that they came to me on merit and I the authorities concerned, including the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, the Police Service Commission, PSC and others who made it possible for me to be elevated to my present status and I will work hard to justify the confidence reposed on me to that effect"..
