Man, 57, arrested for having carnal knowledge of landlady, 98

A 57-year old man, Anselm Osagie, has been arrested for having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 98-year-old landlady.

Anselm, who denied the allegation, allegedly committed the offence on January 3, 2015 just as he blamed his predicament on a –tenant who, he said, saw the old woman sitting on his bed while he was lying down and raised the alarm.

He said the old woman had been coming to his room since October last year.

The suspect, paraded alongside 43 suspects, said he was beaten and accused of making love to an old woman before the police arrested him.

Also paraded was one Famous Aibangbe who allegedly raped a 50-year old woman in a bush at Upper Sakponba.

A man who allegedly posed as a reporter with the Voice of America and Voice of Germany, Yakubu Farouk, was equally paraded.

He was arrested after allegedly interviewing the head of the Hausa community in Edo.

The state Police Commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, said the suspects would be charged to court.

Adebanjo, who is heading to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, said his two years stewardship saw adequate policing of the state.
