Lawyer Petitions Anambra CP Over Threat To Life, Demolition Of House




An Onitsha based Legal Practitioner, Barrister Elysius Muoneke, has petitioned the state commissioner of police, CP, Hosea Karma, over alleged threat to life and demolition of his house located at Ogbaetiti Ikenga Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area reports www.odogwublog.com .


It was alleged that in the wee hours of yesterday, some youths, numbering about 10 from Ikenga Ogidi stormed the said building and demolished it sequel to the refusal of the lawyer to be extorted N100,000 and consequently, he petitioned the commissioner of police pleading that the culprits be brought to book.

He pointed accusing finger at the leadership of the community that included, Architect Amaechi Ekume, President General and two others, simply identified as Chekwube and Olisa.

The petition read in part thus, “Sir, I most respectfully emplore you to use your good offices and bring them to book, the petition read in part.
It was gathered that the leadership of the community has denied involvement in the demolition.

Reacting, the Vice Chairman of the Landlords Association of the Ogbaetiti Ikenga Ogidi, Mr. Orazuruike Anayo said, “for over three years now these people have been tormenting us, they earlier demolished more than 15 houses.
I appeal to the state commissioner of police and Governor Willie Obiano t come to our rescue”.

“The Governor should call the leadership to order and make the culprits to face the wrath of the Law”.

According to the vice chairman, there is a court order restraining the community from interfering in our property”.

Meanwhile, the CP has reportedly ordered that investigation be commenced immediately on the matter with a view to arraigning the suspects in court.
