Jubilation in Anambra PDP as INEC clears Andy Uba, Oduah, Ekwunife as senatorial candidates

There was jubilation this morning across the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday laid to rest all controversies trailing the candidatures of Senator Andy Uba, Princess Stella Oduah and Mrs. Uche Ekwunife
by officially recognizing them as the authentic candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the three senatorial zones in the state.
Following last week’s order from the Federal High Court in Abuja directing INEC to accept the Anambra State senatorial candidates’ list from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Commission cleared the trio of Dr. Andy Uba, Princess Stella Oduah and Hon. Uche Lilian Ekwunife to contest the polls.
Before updating its Web site containing the comprehensive list of candidates after the court’s ruling, INEC had  initially cleared Chief Chris Uba, Prince John Emeka and Senator Annie Okonkwo for the Anambra South, Central and North Senatorial districts.
However, commenting on the adjustment, the electoral commission noted that it acted in compliance with the Federal High Court order in clearing Oduah, Ekwunife and Andy Uba for Anambra North, Central and South respectively.
The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Kayode Idowu, who spoke to Daily Sun at the INEC headquarters in Abuja yesterday, said since the commission was a law abiding institution, it had no choice than to obey the court order: “We have to obey the court order by clearing the candidates for the senatorial districts.
We are law-abiding institution.”
