Jonathan lost to Buhari in Anambra as AIG 4 Buhari takes off show from Jonathan group

Buhari takes upper hand in Anambra as group throws more support (Press statement)

ANAMBRA STATE MUST STAND TO BE COUNTED IN THE CHANGE NIGERIA URGENTLY NEEDS.

Anambra Independent Group for Buhari (AIG 4 Buhari)is a group of professionals and independent persons with no religious, ethnic or political affiliation with either the Peoples’ Democratic party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) or any political party in Nigeria, but concerned citizens of Nigeria and Anambra in particular.
Our objective is to make the voice of the ANAMBRA people count in the next political dispensation. We want Anambra people not to be misled by sentiments and selfish political actors in making their choice between the two major gladiators in the forthcoming election, President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP and General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
Our desire is to factor the collective interest of 'Ndi' Anambra in the Nigerian political equation.
In 2011, the good people of Anambra state came out en mass in support of the PDP Presidential candidate, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with great expectations.
The support was overwhelming, irrespective of our individual political affiliation.
Anambra state gave the highest vote to the President more than all other states both in the south-east and south-south, except Rivers state.
In spite of these unprecedented support, what have we got from President Jonathan in the last six years?  Broken and unfulfilled promises!
President Jonathan on 27th February 2011 in Anambra state while appealing for the votes of Anambra people said’ I do not make empty promise in my campaign because whatever I promise to do, I had already carried out adequate study to make sure I can accomplish it in the next four years’
He promised to construct all major roads which links Anambra with its neighbours, complete the on-going aerodynamic survey of gas in Anambra River basin, complete Onitsha In-land port, carry out the dredging of the River Niger and increase uninterrupted power supply to the people and manufacturers in the state by the time his four years in office would have ended.
Specifically, the Enugu-Onitsha road is in its worst state ever since its dualization. Under the watch of this administration, Motorists have abandoned this major federal road which connects all parts of Anambra  state and some other South East states to now ply the old road that was rehabilitated by the Governors of Anambra and Enugu state within the same time that President Jonathan failed to fulfill his promise on the dualized federal highway.
The Nnewi- Oba -Okigwe road is a motorists' nightmare today as some portion of the road has totally been washed away under the watch of this administration. There is no new Federal road project embarked on by President Jonathan's administration in Anambra State.
The second Niger bridge remains a carrot constantly dangled by the PDP government led by President Jonathan to deceive Ndi Anambra and people of the South East just to secure their votes
Four years ago just before the 2011 presidential election, we were promised that before the next general election, we will have a second Niger bridge. What do we have today, promise made and unfulfilled as there is no second Niger bridge. The project they are claiming is about 15 percent done, even when completed, only God knows when that will ever be, the point is that it is a grand design by this administration to perpetually enslave Ndi Anambra to the debts arising from the project. Do not forget that this bridge will however be the only bridge project in Nigeria embarked upon by the Federal government in which the beneficiaries will have to cover the cost of construction directly from their purse.
Thank God that not everyone is fooled by this veil of bogus promises. We know that the clear reason for President Jonathan's undeserved appeal to Ndi' Anambra and his adoption of Igbo names during election period is purely to take advantage of the bulk votes available in the south-east, with nothing to show for it.
This is sad and portrays a high level of deception. 'Ndi' Anambra. We will no longer fall for this deception.
This time, we will support a performer to captain the ship of our nation to prosperity and development against the obvious record of failure displayed by President Jonathan’s administration.
When it comes to security, no one requires extra commentary to know how the poor state of security in the country has destroyed the firmament of businesses owned by Ndi Anambra across the length and breadth of the country. Our Brothers and sisters with businesses in the North particularly have abandoned their businesses and assets as a result of insecurity in some part of the country under the watch of President Jonathan’s administration.
Let's not forget that before President Jonathan took over the reins of government, exchange of commerce between the north and markets in Onitsha and Nnewi was very high, with over 300 truckloads of goods moving between both ends daily, contributing to the economic growth of the state. Today, market index indicate that less than 10 truckloads of goods presently exchange between both market centers, daily. The very nerve center of our peoples sustainability is now under threat as commerce, the main stay of our people has dwindled drastically. This is happening under the Watch of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Our brothers and sisters living in some parts of the North no longer have the freedom of worship as all the churches in some part of the north east have been burnt down as a result of insecurity. Our people are scared of going to church because they cannot guarantee their safety in the presence of God. These things are happening under the watch of this administration.
It is the cardinal duty and responsibility of the Commander in Chief of all the security agencies in Nigeria in the person of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to protect the life and property of citizens of Nigeria, this he has failed to do, or has displayed gross incompetence in handling. The bulk stops on his table. It is our position that if he cannot tame the monster of insecurity, he has no business looking for another term of office.
Our attraction to General Muhammadu Buhari candidacy is that, at the minimum, he has he pedigree to deal decisively with the ever worsening security situation in the country. It also introduces a new set of people who have the potential to solve the problem. If they fail, Nigerians reserve the right to vote them out in another four years. But to expect Nigerians to live for another four years under President Jonathan’s lackluster administration, with no plans whatsoever to stop Boko Haram is to be extremely wicked to our people
The present Governor of Anambra state, Mr Willie  Obiano, six months into his administration fought the menace of kidnapping and all manner of criminal activities in Anambra state almost to a standstill without making excuses, an act that  seemed impossible in the history of our state . This goes further to show that what is needed is the ‘will’ to accomplish and action to back it up. The Jonathan administration is extremely incompetent and obviously clueless on what to do to tackle this menace.
President Jonathan’s administration promotes corruption and impunity at high places, the type Nigeria has never witnessed. No one is calling the other to order. The President is completely beholden to corrupt individuals whom he is incapable of calling to order. Nigeria just cannot continue this way. A situation where fugitives are given national honours; where 16 persons are greater than 18 persons in the Nigeria Governors forum election; a country where 7members of Ekiti House of Assembly impeached a speaker without the support of 21 other members; a country where the Police invades the National Assembly and prevents it from doing its work; a country where trillions of Naira are siphoned away in the guise of petroleum subsidy; a country where impunity and official corruption has become State policy!.A Country where a Minister spends over 10billion Naira of tax payers money on chartered flights and stops the National Assembly from investigating, the list is endless.
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, one of our illustrious sons, stated recently that this administration has presided over the biggest oil boom ever recorded in the history of Nigeria and not 1% has been added to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of its citizens. This is the only government in our history where rapidly increasing government expenditure was associated with increase in poverty. This long list of UNPRECEDENTED CORRUPTION under the watch of President Jonathan is the direct cause of the negative economic indices the country is recording presently and he surely lacks the competence to see Nigeria out of its economic woes.
A great political leader of our era, Chief Alex Ekwueme recently predicted a poor outing for President Jonathan in the South East. He sure knows what he is saying.
One of our spiritual fathers, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka as well as many other men of God have made similar predictions and out rightly advocated for change of this administration. Quoting Fr. Mbaka “We need change whatever it will be, whatever it will be, let it be. ...by the grace of God, by the power of the holy spirit, we are announcing spiritually, CHANGE....listen, when you go home, tell anybody you see that from the oracle of the holy spirit, we are announcing CHANGE”. He further said “Jonathan has ruled for six years. We need change. The power sector has not worked because of corruption, the privatization of public companies has not yielded any fruit because of corruption. Jonathan has surrounded himself with very corrupt officers who advise him”
This is the time to take our destiny in our hands; this is the time to join the clamor for change. Let us shine our eyes and refuse to be deceived.
It was said, by our great leader, Chief Odimegwu Ojukwu , that ‘ if you fool me once, you are the fool, but if you fool me again, I am the fool’. ‘Ndi’ Anambra, are we going to allow ourselves to be fooled again?
The answer my brothers and sisters is NO, we will not. The time for change is now. General Muhammadu Buhari may not be the perfect candidate, but he deserves our votes, under the current circumstances. Let us try Gen Buhari since President Goodluck Jonathan has failed our people.
We shall be offering Masses, church services and prayer sessions all over the state for God to grant us the change we are in dire need of. We shall also mobilize extensively, the people of Anambra state to vote for change in the forth coming elections.

Signed
