IBB disowns Twitter handle

Former Military President, Gen Ibrahim Babangida has said he does not have a twitter handle by whatever name.

He said this following an incident where a twitter account with handle, ‘@genu_ ibb’ churned out articles and claimed they were coming from him(IBB).

In a statement, Babangida said that articles generated from the said Twitter handle are not his and did not represent his views.

The statement reads in part: “This is to inform members of the Nigerian public and the international community, that I do not have a twitter handle by whatever name. Those who have grown over the years to know men clearly understand my style and position on national and international issues.

“I cannot descend to the level of using gutter language on anyone or any issue about persons, individuals or establishments. All those commentaries on the twitter account are purely the opinion of an impostor who is trying to tarnish my image.

“At this age and time, I cannot hide under any guise to purport to be speaking when I should actually speak. I have my own style which is peculiar to me.

“The general public should therefore disregard any tweet from that address by way of opinion comments, suggestion or otherwise.

When I need to speak, I know what I have to speak on and at what point I should do so and the medium to express same. This impostor hurts my sensibilities and should therefore be disregarded,” the General noted.
