Dr. Willie Obiano raises hope to Matriculants, as Nwafor-Orizu College of Education (NOCEN) marks 34th Matriculation.

It was a celebration galore in NOCEN yesterday, the 20th day of February when the Provost Dr. C. Ego Uzoezie on behalf of the College Management, Staff and Students marked 34th Matriculation of the NCE students in the Matriculation arena and welcomed His Excellency Dr. Willie Obiano, the Visitor to the College heavily represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Education Representative Dr. Laz Okafor.

In the Provost’s address, she reminded the students that an occasion like this calls for sober reflection on the path they have chosen because this new status of theirs carries with it immunities, privileges as well as responsibilities. She made it clear that gold is a precious ornament which is highly demanded because it glitters. It glitters not in its original form as dug out from the ground. It glitters only after it had gone through the process of heating and refinement. In the same vein, the road to academic success requires the same conditions. It demands self discipline, hard work and perseverance.
The Provost further charged the students to desist from any form of vices that could mar or become to their graduation at the set time. She called on those who may have entered into secret cult before entering the College to repent and turn a new leaf as the door of repentance had not been locked. This was because the consequences are many for there is zero tolerance if one is caught in the College indulging in such evil.

In his speech, the Governor Representative, Commissioner, Prof. Kate Omenugha by the Director Higher Education in the Ministry, Dr. Laz Okafor charged the students to remain focused and peace-loving as His Excellency has promised to add indellible smile in their faces through the plans his administration would be rolling out in no distance time for the College. He pointed out the fact that the College is one of the oldest and pace-setter in the training of the Teachers. Thus, that making investment in the school will bring it to the next level.
