Disabled men and women Protests Rock Onistha South over APGA Candidate Dubem Obaze largess

Over 50 Physically Challenged people yesterday stormed the Onitsha South Council Headquarters demanding for the release of all the monies allegedly

given on their behalf to the Local Government chairman, Hon. Alex Achebe by the APGA Senatorial candidate for Anambra North senatorial zone, Chief Dubem Obaze.

The group which had about 9:30 in the morning protested in the council premises over the refusal of the local government chairman, Hon. Alex Achebe to release the monies released to them by the APGA Senatorial candidate for Anambra North, Chief Dubem Obaze and the twenty-five thousand naira which was a part of the fifty thousand naira earlier released to the association by the governor’s wife, Mrs. Ebele Obiano during APGA’s campaign rally at Godwin  Achebe Mini Stadium recently.

The disabled persons who spoke through their chairman, Mr. Onyekachukwu Ohajiekwe at Fegge Police Station after they were arrested on the orders of the council chairman said they were compelled to take the case to the council headquarters after being refused attention by the local government boss when they returned from a tournament where they had gone to represent the state in a Para-Soccer competition in Abuja recently.

Mr. Ohajiekwe remarked that other entitlements which the disabled association used to enjoy during the time of the previous local government bosses, Mr. Ugochukwu Ezeani and Lady Ann Chukwuneke had been abandoned by the present administration in the local government and called on the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano to remove Hon. Achebe  as he lacks the temperament to serve as a public officer.

When this reporter visited the council headquarters, Woliwo, the council boss was seeing shouting that he had no time for disabled non-indigenes of Onitsha and ordered them (disabled) to go to their respective local government to make their agitation.                 

All attempts made to speak with the council boss proved abortive as he immediately jumped into his official car and drove to an unknown destination.
