Former Commissioner for Information
and Tourism in Anambra State, Chief Majah Umeh has identified lack of synergy
between the State Governor and lawmakers of Anambra State extraction in the
National Assembly as being responsible for poor
representation of the federal
constituencies and senatorial zones in the State as he gives Governor Willie
Obiano a pass mark so far reports www.odogwublog.com .
Chief Umeh at his Amichi country
home in Nnewi South Local Government Area, yesterday, said the situation had
robbed the State huge federal presence and other democracy dividends which
would have been made possible if members of the House of Representatives and
Senators from Anambra State belonged to the same political party as the
Governor of the State to necessitate the lawmakers paying courtesy calls to the
State Governor, occasionally and articulate how to attract more federal
presence to Anambra because of an existing synergy.
Chief Umeh, who was the All
Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) aspirant in the current political
dispensation and a member of Anambra Campaign Organization noted that the
scenario could only be changed in the forth-coming elections if voters in
Anambra could vote massively for the APGA to ensure that the party fully
controled the State.
"Currently, all the serving
Senators from Anambra are not from our great party. They do not come to discuss
issues of interest with the Governor because they belong to different political
parties. We want the APGA to win all the three senatorial seats for
proper and effective representation.
"Anything we are doing at the
State level without federal collaboration will never bring maximized benefit to
the Anambra people. A situation where an elected Senator comes into the State
from Abuja without paying courtesy calls on the Governor just because he
belongs to a different political party gives room to loss of synergy,"
Chief Umeh said.
On the performance of Governor
Obiano so far, he said he learnt that the Governor had attracted over
2billion dollars investmemt to the State and commended the Governor for
achieving the feat in a short period he assumed office.
"I can see the infrastructural
transformation of the Awka capital territory. There are about threee flyovers
going on simultaneously in the State capital, something we never had before.
The Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) has gone nuclear because of the money he
had put in there to revolutionalize it and the ideology he has about the place.
I see a lot of the lifting of the spirit of abum onye Anambra ( I am a proud
Anambra person).
"The man is out there
containing effectively the security challenges of kidnap and all that. So, I
want to call on the people of Anambra to support this government. I think the
State is on course under Governor Obiano's watch," he appealed.
APGA must represent Anambra all through in N/Assembly this time-Umeh
