reports that the Inter Party Advisory Council has called on INEC not to disenfranchise
Ogbaru people
Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), the umbrella body for all the registered Political Parties in Nigeria, Anambra state chapter, congratulates the Nigerian electorates, the government at every level and the International Community at large for the support and encouragement given to the Nigerian people since the inception of this Republic in 1999.
In spite of the various challenges we have
encountered since 1999, our people have demonstrated uncommon faith in
democratic governance and indeed have accepted it as a better way of
distributing common wealth and developing the society.
The security challenge presented by the Boko
Haram sect has equally threatened the foundation of our existence as a people.
Since the end of the civil war in 1970, no upheaval, religious or otherwise,
has claimed the number of human lives and rendered people homeless and jobless
as this scourge. IPAC is on the side of the Government at every level on the
fight against this in- human, callous, Satanic and barbaric siege on our people by this agents of
death because no society can experience meaningful development in the absence
of peace.
We are also very happy with the leadership of
the Nigerian judicial council as a partner in this democratic journey and
progress recorded so far. However, a situation where people are granted all
manners of pleas and injunctions by our courts at different levels must be
looked into by the council before the confidence reposed in the judiciary is
eroded completely.
In view of the development in our polity whereby
our courts have become partners in judicial merchandising particularly in
Anambra State. After a very crucial meeting to analyze the going on in the
political terrain of the State, IPAC resolved to make the followings known to
Nigerians
I. The
IPAC hereby call on the Nigeria judicial council (NJC) to beam their searchlight
on those courts involved in frivolous
orders and judgments with a view to nip in the bud those nefarious activities.
II. The political party is the husband man with
all the inherent powers to nominate, elect and appoint persons to vie for
elective positions on their plat forms and not any third party as it is very
clearly explained in the electoral act.
III. That IPAC Anambra State chapter is totally
aligned with the position of the National working committee (NWC) of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) on who becomes
their candidate(s) in the Anambra State upcoming 2015 general Elections.
IV. That
IPAC Anambra State chapter condemns the activities of some selfish and over
ambitious individuals whose stock in trade is to project our dear state for the
wrong reason. Be that as it may, IPAC Anambra State chapter appreciates the
Anambra State House of Assembly for making this a criminal offence for those
who are not shortlisted by the third party to parade themselves as candidates.
However, no one becomes a judge in his own case.
V. IPAC is
using this medium to salute president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR on his
courage and refusal to succumb to the rumored pressure on him to postpone the
schedule Feb, 14th and 28th 2015 general Elections.
VI. IPAC
also commends the President for showing transparency in economic management as
regards the historic reduction of fuel price which has now seen Nigerians
smiling to the filling stations.
VII. Every
Nigerian is hereby encourage to ensure that he/she collects his/her permanent
voters card (PVC) to be able to participate
in the forthcoming elections, moreso now that INEC has extended the issuance of
PVC date to 08/02/15.
VIII.
The IPAC is using this opportunity to call on
the new Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner to ensure that the people
of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State whose about 9000 PVC were
stolen in the course of the distribution exercise by the INEC staff according
to his Predecessor (Prof. Pastor Onukaogu) are not disenfranchised for a fault
that is not theirs.
IX.
IPAC, Anambra State chapter enjoins the good
people of the State and indeed Nigerians at home and in diaspora to continue to
workhard as they partners with IPAC to protect and nurture this hard earned
democracy.
Signed:
Hon. Sir Bartho
Igwedibia J.P Prince
