Enugu
State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Hon. Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi, has promised to make vital projects to be embarked upon by his
administration if elected governor to be based on the needs of the people of
the state.
Ugwuanyi disclosed this at the
weekend when he hosted a delegation from Lagos under the aegis of Hon. Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi Support Group, who visited him in Enugu.
He promised that when elected
governor, he would call the people of the state and other stakeholders to a
town hall meeting where segments and constituents of the state would table
their major needs which would guide his administration in taking sensitive
decisions on the location of projects.
The group, which has a membership
that cuts across the three senatorial zones of Enugu State, donated over
15,000 campaign materials to Ugwuanyi to help him in his electoral bid. The
group pointed out the numerous achievements of the lawmaker who has been representing
Igbo-Eze North/ Udenu federal constituency in the House of Representatives in
the past 12 years informed their decision to support him.
In his brief remarks, chairman of
the Lagos support group and native of Awgu Local Council Area, who led the
three-man delegation, Chief G.O. Onuorah, explained that as natives of Enugu
State living in Lagos, members of the group came together to form a united
front in support of him with a view to checkmating those who are hell-bent on
fomenting trouble following the emergence of the lawmaker as the PDP candidate.
In his response, Ugwuanyi told
the three-man delegation: “My campaign is an instrument of God and this can be
testified by even drivers, ‘keke’ riders on the streets of Enugu.”
He urged the group that apart
from campaigning for him in Lagos as shown in the campaign materials produced
by the members, they should also join in the various prayer activities
embarked upon by many groups which are also drumming support for him. On how
his proposed administration would run, especially in developing the state, Ugwuanyi
urged them to come up with ideas on what should be done to improve governance
in the state if he is elected.
