The newly elected Executive Members of
the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Anambra State Chapter rising from an all
night inauguration retreat on Saturday, 17 January 2015, held at Joburg Hotels
and Suites, have commended the Executive Governor of the State, Chief Dr.
Willie Obiano, for the peaceful and crime free 2014, Christmas celebration.
Granting a press interview after the
retreat, the Chapter Chairman, Rev. Fr. Dr. Cosmas Ebebe, FNIPR, observed that
there was no recorded case of kidnapping and added that the Christmas decorations
at strategic positions of the state increased the aesthetic beauty of the environment
and enhanced conducive and serene happy celebration.
The Chairman expressed the readiness
of the Institute to partner with the State Government in building and managing
the reputation of the State, especially to Anambrarians residing outside the
state through the usual Anambra Night, at NIPR’s national outings, such as AGMs
and Conferences. He used the forum to announce that the Chapter is gearing up
for the 2015, National AGM/Conference on 5th February at Abuja.
Reacting to the thrust of the
overnight retreat, the Chairman said it is aimed at allowing the executive
members enough time to brainstorm and forge a way forward for the Institute by
way of planning its programs and activities for the year. He said, he is
committed to team spirit for the required success. He pledges to empower the Institute
and to harness the capacity of individual PR practitioners so as to get the
Institute to the desired level, both in the state and at the National.
One of the major outputs of the
meeting was the creation of committees:
Land and Secretariat Committee, headed
by Rev. Fr. Prof. B.A.C Obiefuna, Mnipr; Membership and Welfare Committee,
headed by Prof. Stella Okunna, Mnipr; Education and Publication Committee,
headed by Dr. Venatius Agbanu, Mnipr, and Chapter Events Committee, under the
headship of Ngozi Ulogu, Mnipr.
The election of the Executive members
took place on 18th December, 2014, under the close watch of the
National President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Rotimi Oladele Fnipr, ably
represented by the duo of Willy Ogbidi, Fnipr, and George Akpan, Mnipr. The
Executive Council members are:
