Maku Visits Obiano in Anambra over his Governorship Ambition

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra sate yesterday promised to provide support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nassarawa state,Mr Labaran Maku to win the election.

Obiano said 'I have no doubt that at the end of February we will have four new governors.'
Maku a former Minister of Information and Communications, led a delegation to Anambra state to pay homage to Governor Obiano at the Governor’s lodge, Amawbia.
Obiano, who commended Maku and his delegation for visiting him, expressed confidence that the party would win the governorship election in Nassarawa state.
In his remark, the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, said Maku was a candidate to beat in Nasarawa.

Umeh, who recalled the political ties between Nasarawa and Anambra during the era of Chief Solomon Lar, said that APGA was growing as a large political force in Nigeria.

'Maku has what it takes to provide the type of governance Anambra is providing for the people,' Umeh said.
Maku earlier in his speech lauded the Governor Willie Obiano led administration for its focused leadership, massive infrastructural development and security of the State.
Maku recalled that he visited the state about one and half years ago and admitted  that a lot had changed within the short period of Obiano’s tenure.
'We are not surprised that Anambra state that was once avoided by travelers due to the activities of armed robbers and kidnappers, today has gone quiet and tranquil,' he said.
The governorship candidate expressed confidence that the state would lead in the industrial sector following Obiano’s security and infrastructural development initiative.
He commended Obiano, who is the national leader of the party, for the leadership support he had given to members of the party across the country noting that it had contributed to the growth of the party.
The former minister called on the people of Anambra to continue to support Obiano in the fight against insecurity and the efforts to make the state an industrial hub in the country.
He described APGA as the fastest growing party in the country after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

'Since our entry into APGA in Nasarawa state,  people have ran to join the party as their last hope to restore the state to its lost glory.
'In the last four years, the people have struggled for change and ran to APC, but immediately the party came to power, terrorists’ violence descended on the state.
'We are worried that with the advent of terrorism in the state, the whole of the North-Central will be in danger and if we do not provide the leadership to halt it, it could further jeopardize the unity of the country,' he said.
Maku said therefore, that he joined APGA to reverse the situation, assuring that he and his running mate, Alhaji Ibrahim Abu, are out to win the governorship poll of the state.
He also promised to sustain the relationship between the North-Central and the South-East if elected as governor.
