Motor circle and tricycle operators popularly known
as Keke Napep in Imo state yesterday lamented their plight in the hands of the
Owelle Rochas Okorocha -led Administration.
They painted a gory picture of heir plight and
thrown their weight behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship and
presidential candidates, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and President Goodluck Jonathan
respectively.
The transport operators under the aegis of Association of Motorcycle, Tricycle Transporters in Imo State pledged to vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Emeka Ihedioha and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The over 2000 transporters made their position known at a gathering addressed by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Viola Onwuliri at the PDP secretariat along Okigwe Road, Owerri.
Prof. Onwuliri said only PDP controlled Federal and state governments would liberate Imo people from the clutches of darkness represented by the Okorocha administration.
The association complained to the minister about the unwarranted harassments and intimidation of its members by the state government, adding that after ensuring victory for Okorocha in 2011 his government had subjected them to undue witch-hunting in their operation in the state.
The association’s Chairman Mr. Christopher Egwuasi expressed sadness that even after they had won their case against the state government in court, the agents of the government still harass them indiscriminately.
Onwuliri, accompanied by Nigeria’s ambassador to Hungary, Dr. Eddie Oluoha, a chieftain of the PDP and former APC state Chairman, Marshal Okoroafor- Anyanwu, among others, commended the transporters for queuing behind Jonathan and Ihedioha.
She promised that the Federal Government would wade into the incessant unwarranted harassment of the transporters.
