These graduates, Mr. Isaac
Oluwasanmi Oluwadare and his wife, Comfort’s life has changed for good since
their story was carried that they gave birth to a quadruplets but were
unemployed, reports www.odogwublog.com
“Since last week when Saturday Sun
carried report of the birth of our quadruplets, our lives have not remained the
same,” says unemployed graduate couple
Mr. Isaac Oluwasanmi Oluwadare and
his wife, Comfort, may not have had this type and level of excitement. Since Saturday
Sun published incisive report last week about Comfort’s quadruplets on
August 24, 2014, after a set of twins in 2012, there has been a deluge of
goodwill – in kind, cash and material, even promises of employment. All of
this coming from far and near, across the length and breadth of the country.
Following the report, the unemployed
couple and their six kids have become a subject of attraction, attention and
sympathy to kind-hearted Nigerians, philanthropists, charity and corporate
organisations. They have been showering the family of eight with gift items,
cash, congratulatory messages and prayers.
The couple told our correspondent
that no sooner the paper hit the newsstands on that fateful Saturday morning,
than readers started calling the father of the children, Oluwadare. His
telephone numbers were included in the said publication.
The man, whose call woke up our correspondent
on that morning to thank The Sun management for its service to humanity,
was seething with excitement: “I have seen your hand ooo,” he began.
“Though I have not seen the paper, readers have been calling and congratulating
me and my wife on the wonder that God has done in my family. In fact, it is
people’s calls that woke me up from my sleep early this morning and since then
my lines have been busy. Thank you for the job,” he said glowingly. “I must not
wait to thank The Sun management. In fact, I want to speak with your MD
so that I can thank him for the good job you people are doing at The Sun without
discrimination. It’s truly Nigerians’ paper. Thank you very much,” Oluwadare
said in another burst of excitement. Our correspondent gathered that the sleepy
Ikeji-Arakeji town where the couple resides in Oriade Local Government Area of
Osun State has since become a Mecca of sorts as well-wishers from far and near
have continued to pay visit to bless the kids with gift items such as baby
wears, foodstuff and cash.
Also, several concerned Nigerians as
well as representatives of charity and corporate organisations have been
calling the family from all over Nigeria to congratulate them. Those, who asked
for the account numbers of Mr. Oluwadare, have since sent various sums of money
to cater for the children. Those who earlier promised to send money, Saturday
Sun gathered, have also fulfilled their promises. Oluwadare also told our
correspondent that many people have been bringing baby wears and baby food.
“Since Saturday Sun carried
the report on us, our house has become a centre of attraction by kind-hearted
people. People from far and near have been coming to help us. Some give us
money; others bring foodstuff, while others bring baby wears and foodstuffs.
Several people have been calling us from all over Nigeria—Kano, Yobe, Gombe,
Ondo, Kaduna, Akwa-Ibom, Benue, Abuja, Lagos, Delta, etc. Some of them have
been sending money to my account after giving them my account numbers. Even,
corporate and charity organisations have been sending us money. Many more also
promised to send money. About two persons have asked me to submit my CV to them
online to help me get a job.”
As at the time of filing this
report, the happy father was still being bombarded with calls from people from
different parts of Nigeria; gift items were also still pouring in and bank
accounts swelling. And the couple kept praying for the people on behalf of the
kids.
On whether he has received any help
from government, Oluwadare said he has not. However, he said he was hopful that
God, who has been touching people’s hearts would also touch government‘s heart,
“especially in area of employment for me and my wife, so that we can nurture
these children for this country. I believe they are Nigeria’s children.”
Asked if the family received this
kind of help when the babies were born, man and woman said the initial help
they got was insignificant, as most people did not hear the news, except the
people in their locality. He enthused that it was the Saturday Sun’s report
that announced the family for the blessings that have been pouring in full
torrents.
“I believe that the children are a
blessing from God and attracted the blessings. I think they were the ones that
attracted The Sun newspaper to the family, because I never knew the
journalist, Mr. Clement Adeyi, in my life. I don’t know how he heard about the
birth of the quadruplets. One day, my phone rang and he introduced himself to
me and said he wanted to come and interview me and my wife and that was it. I
can’t thank The Sun and everybody that has been helping us enough. May
God bless all of you.” Oluwadare, who said he and his wife had drawn the
curtains on child-bearing and expressed satisfaction at the six that God has
given to them within two years, however, prayed for those that have been
expecting the gift of baby.
“I pray that God, who did this for
me and my wife, will also do it for those that have been praying for the
blessing,” he said. If there is one thing, though, that has been causing the
couple sleepless nights, it is how to send the kids to a good school,
especially now that they are both jobless. Asked what they intend to do with
the money that people have been sending to them, they said that it would not be
used only for feeding and maintenance, but also, a certain percentage would be
kept in a savings account for the children’s education.
“With more help from the good people
of Nigeria, we are hoping to open six different accounts in different banks
for each of the children, including the first set of twins. The reason is to
prioritise their education ahead of anything else, God willing,” they told Saturday
Sun.
Comfort, who said she was ever ready
to face the challenge of preparing the kids for school on a daily basis – even
when her husband or anybody is around to give a helping hand – enthused that
the first set of twins, Taiwo and Kehinde, have since started school and are
now in KG 1 in a private school in their village.
