The
Federal Government yesterday took a swipe at the presidential candidate of All
Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, asking him to account
for the money realized through the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), established by
the administration of General Sani Abacha.
Special
Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Kingsley Kuku, who spoke with
newsmen in Akure, Ondo State capital, yesterday said Buhari should explain how
his administration expended the money accrued to the Federal Government through
the PTF.
“Buhari
put Pa Adekunle Ajasin in prison without committing any offence. He used his
military power to incarcerate many Nigerians. Is he the same person that we
will allow to rule us in Nigeria?”
Kuku,
who is the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Amnesty, queried the
National Leader of the APC, Senator Bola Tinubu on his relationship with
Buhari, saying: “Tinubu cannot say that he doesn’t know the author of
corruption in Nigeria.
“I
am not saying that Tinubu is a corrupt person, but he cannot deny the fact that
he knows what corruption is. He can identify corruption and those who are
corrupt in Nigeria. Tinubu knows what corruption means and what it means for an
individual to be corrupt,’ he added.
On
the alleged frosty relationship between President Goodluck Jonathan and former
President Olusegun Obasanjo, Kuku said: “Obasanjo and Jonathan have no issue
and if there is any issue between them they will resolve it.”
