Chief Michael Chukwudeme commends Mrs Obiano ...expresses fears over taskforce system

Chief Michael Chukwudeme, the Chairman of Osenku/Ogbe Ijaw park congratulated Chief Dr. Willie Obiano for the unique helpmate God has given him.

He noted that Chief Mrs Obiano (Oso-di-eme) has been supporting her husband in carrying out various projects in the state including the recent decoration of strategic points in the state, the ASA-USA walk against cancer public awareness campaign which she spearheaded recently and particularly the commissioning of the Bakery and Knitting Centre of  the Saint John’s Vocational and Technical (VOTEC), Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area of the State, which, he said, has gone a long way in empowering women and youths in his community - Neni.
He made this commendation during an exclusive interview in which he also expressed his angst over the multiple task force system rearing its head in different parts of Anambra state with the associated violence and risks it poses in the parks and the environs.
He exposed the trend amongst some youths who parade themselves as government approved taskforce and extort money from drivers along the road and in parks. He said that with different groups of people presenting tickets and demanding for fees, the drivers end up handing over most of the fruits of their daily toils to these mischievous ones. Those of them who brave resistance risk being victim to the disruption of business or outright mob action.
Chief Chukwudeme proposed a more streamlined revenue collection system from the drivers as a way of stifling the confusion associated with multiple taskforce system. He also proposed a training and re-training program for those youths charged with the responsibility of collecting the revenue for the government - a program which he said should include an enlightenment in the need for courtesy and diplomacy in collecting revenues and the sacredness of human life and dignity. He frowned at the negative image of thuggery park workers have built over the years because of these ones called 'ndi mpiawa azu'.
Speaking to newsmen in his office, he said, 'In the past, people feared going near the parks at night and cases of pickpocketing, handbag snatching and physical abuse by so called 'agberos', and noted that Upper Iweka, under Onitsha flyover and suchlike motor park spots all over the state have all been transformed into more civilized regions and safe havens of sort.' 'Anambra state is the state with the most organised  park management system. Thanks to the ingenuity of the Working Governor.'
The Park Chieftain expressed optimism in the present  government's ability to sanitize the road transport management process and pledged his loyalty and absolute support to all the moves the government is taking to make Anambra state a great state.
Chief Michael Chukwudeme is an experienced motor park manager who has served as the chairman of the committee of motor park managers in the past and left impeccable track records.
