The city were yesterday thrown into bewilderment as news broke that a popular food hawker in Eke-Awka market was using her late brother`s parts to prepare food for her customers.
According to the residents of the area, the skeleton of the victim was discovered by one of his brothers who returned unexpected from outside the state and opened one of his sisters' rooms as he met nobody in the house only to be greeted by a human skeleton.

He was said to have raised an alarm which attracted neighbours who helped to force the accused to explain how she came about keeping the human skeleton.

Sources disclosed that, the woman at that point confessed that it was the skeleton of one of her brothers, a onetime footballer who played for Rangers International Club in the 80's who later developed mental sickness and was brought back home.

According to the story, it was gathered that the woman confessed that she was using the deceased body parts to prepare the food she sells to the public.
But when this reporter went to the residence of the suspect to investigate the matter, she was told by her relations that the story was not true.

They rather told the story of a onetime footballer who played for Ranger International Football Club of Nigeria in the 80’s, Mr. Stephen Aloefuna, who unfortunate had a mental problem and was brought back home.

According to them, on getting home, there was no one to take care of him but only his eldest sister Ngozi who they said tried all she could do for him to recover from his sickness but all her efforts proved abortive. They said that Ngozi locked Stephen in the family building and continued to take care of him until he died about two years ago.

Our sources further disclosed that the suspect Ngozi Aloefuna from Amikwo village Awka, Awka South Local Government Area said to have called one of their brothers and reported the death of their brother, Stephen, but he shunned her and asked her to leave him without asking about the deceased.

The corpse was said to have remained in the compound, decomposed and became a skeleton without any one coming to know about it or perceiving the odour of the decomposed body until one Mr. Ifeanyi Aloefuna went to Ngozi and insisted on seeing the deceased. Ngozi opened the door and all he saw was the skeleton of the deceased.

When asked what she used to prevent the corpse from smelling, Ngozi said, "I did not pour anything on him"

Meanwhile a woman who claimed to be a relation to the family said that "Stephen was already a skeleton before he died. He had no flesh that was why neighbours did not perceive any odour".

Odogwu Media gathered that the deceased skeleton was taken to the police station alongside Ngozi the suspect.

However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Uche Eze when contacted confirmed the obnoxious incident and said that investigations are ongoing.
