A former
Minister of Petroleum Resources under late Gen Sani Abacha, Chief Dan Etete has
warned the First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan over alleged moves to scuttle the
second term ambition of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
Etete
who spoke over the weekend during the celebration of his 70th birthday asked
Mrs Jonathan to stop meddling in the affairs of Bayelsa state.
He
accused Mrs Jonathan of being “jealous” of the laudable achievements of the
Dickson led administration.
Etete
said he is ready to lead the fight against Mrs Jonathan to stop sabotaging the
government of the state.
While
expressing surprise on who appointed Mrs Jonathan to determine who becomes
Governor of the state, he stated that she should be concerned about the
re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“I
am using this opportunity to warn the First Lady not to make the mistake of
trying to dislodge Governor Dickson. It is a known fact that Dickson has
performed beyond the expectation of most Bayelsans, and that out of nothing but
sheer jealousy the First Lady and her cheerleaders want him out to pave way for
their selfish interests. We have Governor Dickson working his heart out to
galvanize support for President Jonathan’s second term in office. On the other
hand, the First Lady is aligning with all the opposition elements in the state
to create crisis for the young governor” he said.
Elder
statesman and foremost Ijaw leader, ChiefEdwin Clark speaking at the event
endorsed Dickson for second term.
