Three
persons were shot dead in a violent clash between street urchins battling for
supremacy at Amukoko-Ajegunle area of Lagos State, while several others
sustained severe injuries.
It was gathered that some vehicles parked on
Alapede, Abdul Rasheed and Turner Streets off Ojo Road, were damaged as the
hoodlums opened fire on themselves.
The
hoodlums, said to be members of Alaba and Apasa boys, have been locked in a
protracted bloody battle over control of motor and tricycle parks in the area.
Several
persons, including woman and children, have been killed during violent clashes
between these groups, who were also alleged to be loyal to a political party in
the area.
Eyewitness
said that the latest clash, which occurred on Friday night, started when
members of Apasa group went on a reprisal attack on members Alaba group who are
residents of Alapede, Abdul-Rasheed and Turner Streets, shooting
indiscriminately.
Three
of the persons killed during the clashes were said to be members of Alaba
group, while those injured were innocent residents in the area.
An
eyewitness, Bolaji Ajayi, said Apasa boys took Alaba boys by surprise during
the reprisal attack.
