The calls for the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh to upstage Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District yesterday received a boost as the Agulu Peoples Union (APU) and Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria/Autobike Owners Association of Nigeria (MTUN/AOWAN) thrown their weight
behind Umeh for the race.
Speaking during at the occasion held at Agulu Township Hall, the home
town of Umeh, the APU/ MTUN/AOWAN also asked the APGA chairman not to retire from politics as his retirement would do no good to the Igbo
people, more so as he was still young.

The National president of the APU Chief Uche Owoh stated that with his
wealth of experience Umeh stands a good chance to adequately represent
the Anambra Central Senatorial District come February 2015. They
assured Umeh that he needed not campaign in Agulu as they have
resolved that Agulu will give him 100% of their votes come February
14, 2014.
They thanked Chief Umeh for all the developmental projects he brought
to Agulu through his sound piloting of the affairs of APGA.
His words: “Chief Umeh indeed paid the price and we believe that if
given the opportunity to serve the people of Anambra Central, he will
definitely do better than what we are witnessing right now in the
Senate.”
Also speaking at the occasion, Chairman Board of Trustee, Motorcycle
Transport Union of Nigeria (MTUN) who doubles as National Chief
Security Task Force Abuja, Dr Jimmy Okonkwo extolled Umeh for his
exploits at the just concluded National Conference.
He marveled that Chief (Sir) Victor Umeh could do so much for Ndigbo
within a space of fourteen days including successfully agitating for
the creation of an additional state for the Southeast.
He thanked Umeh for all the support he gave Mr Peter Obi, and ensuring
that he did two terms as the governor of Anambra State, even he urged
the people of Agulu to get their PVC and get ready for the next month
general election and vote for all APGA candidates and President
Jonathan.
Also, Hon. Ikeobi Ejiofor, the executive chairman of Anocha Local
Government and lots of prominent indigens of Agulu, Anocha and beyond,
and of course not excluding women and children.
Responding, Chief Victor Umeh expressed gratitude over the endorsement
for the Senate to represent Anambra Central Senatorial zone. He
thanked MTUN/AOWAN for the honour they have bestowed on him. He
further expressed delight for the enormous support given him by the
groups and promised to give the people effective representation if
given the mandate.
Umeh recalled that Ojukwu, until his death, was thinking of the future
of Ndigbo in Nigeria and the world. The APGA chairman also advised the
groups to give Governor Willie Obiano all the necessary support he
needed to move Anambra State forward as he promised to give Obiano
every supports he need to make Anambra state better.
