Primate Church of Nigeria, Condemns Demolition of Ebenezer Anglican Church at Oyolu-Ozo Nkwelle Ezunaka



The joint council of knights of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion has commended the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan for standing for widows and women in Nigeria as never before in the history of the country through her pet project Women for change and Development Initiative W4CDI.
www.odogwublog.com reports that the knights recognized that many widows and less privileged women have been affected through the Initiative in almost all the zones and states of the federation and urged to keep up the tempo, adding that the empowerment was real and felt across board.
The council of knights also commended the Primate Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh on the success of the general synod of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion held in Enugu 19th – 23rd September, 2014 and the Divine Commonwealth Conference of Nigeria (Divcon) held in Abuja recently.
These were contained in the 14 points communiqué issued at the end of the 19th joint council of knights, (JCK) Church of Nigeria conference held at the Knight Abbey retreat centre and All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha.
The communiqué signed by the new President General of the knights of Nigeria, Sir Dr. Joe Honze lamented on the incessant waste of lives and property by extremists in the country and called on the federal government to quell the increasing insurgency in North East Nigeria as well as step up efforts to secure the release of the Chibok girls abducted by the Boko Haram sect.
The Knights also frowned at the increasing level of political impunity ravaging the country and called on politicians to play the game according to the rules. The Knights noted with dismay, the negative attitude of our politicians in over heating the polity before the 2015 general election and therefore calls for caution, restraint and understanding among the political class.

The communiqué further noted with sadness the many challenges confronting the nation, particularly the wide spread insecurity, terrorism, human sexuality problem, youth restiveness, religious intolerance, corruption and called on the Church to rise to the challenges as commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ.
The knights’ conference attended by (316) delegates from (47) councils was declared open by the metropolitan and primate of All Nigeria, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh who noted with regret the demolition of Ebenezer Anglican Church at Oyolu-Ozo Nkwelle Ezunaka.
Okoh requested the Anambra state government to promptly rebuild the church to encourage interdenominational relationship among Christians in the state and the country at large.
The communiqué however appreciated the efforts being made by Governor Willie Obiano to improve the security situation in the state and urged him to sustain the trend.
The conference also commended the federal government for embarking on the construction of the much awaited second Niger Bridge and prays that the bridge be completed with approvable dispatch to ease the difficulties encountered by travelers.
It commended the federal, Lagos and Rivers state government and indeed all Nigerians for the prompt and effective control of the deadly Ebola virus and cautions that we must not rest on our oars.
The knight of Nigeria also commended the effort of the judiciary in reforming the system, urging it to sustain the reforms because a lot needs to be done.
The communiqué also note with dismay the incessant strikes in various sector of the economy and calls on government at all level and labour to show understanding in labour matters.
The JCK conference was attended by seven Bishops, Most Rev. Christian Efobi, Archbishop of Niger Province, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen C. Nwokolo, Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Alex Ibezim, Bishop of Awka, Rt. Rev. R.C. Okafor, Bishop of Ihialla, Rt. Rev. Prof. Anthony Nkworka, Bishop of Niger West, Rt. Rev. Godwin Okpala, Bishop of Nnewi.
