The
House of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is collapsing in Anambra
state. One member has dragged the party to court and soon others may join.
www.odogwublog.com reports thaththis
is because hearing has been fixed for January 15, 2015 in a suit filed at the
Federal High Court, Awka by All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) aspirant in
the just concluded APGA primary for Anambra State House of Assembly in Nnewi
South Constituency 1, Mr. Emmanuel Chinwenche Mbazulike.
Named
in the suit, as defendants are Kingsley Chukwuma Iruba and the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The
plaintiff is claiming N500 million for general and aggravated damages against
the first defendant for unlawful and wrongful removal of his name from ballot
paper of Nnewi South Constituency 1.
The
plaintiff also asked the court to determine whether the first defendant and its
agents conducted proper and valid primary election to the state House of
Assembly in Nnewi South Constituency 1 on December 3, 2014 when the plaintiff’s
name was wrongly or erroneously removed from the ballot paper of Nnewi South
Constituency 1, leading to his non-participation.
Mbazulike
also asked the court to declare that APGA had no candidate for the state House
of Assembly in the said constituency in 2015 general elections because of its
(APGA) failure to comply with the law. He also sought an order of perpetual
injunction restraining the third defendant from recognizing Iruba (second
defendant) or any other person as the candidate of the first defendant in
respect of the office in question.
In
an affidavit in support of the originating summons, the plaintiff said he had
fulfilled all the conditions for screening to contest the seat in the state
House of Assembly in Nnewi South Constituency 1.
