Build Churches for God, Bishop Ezeokafor Urges Christians, Celebrates Feast of Basillica of St John the Lateran

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev Dr Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor has called on Christians the world over to concentrate more on building for God a befitting place of worship saying that investing in the House of God prepares one for eternity.

www.odogwublog.com reports that Bishop Ezeokafor who stated this at St. Francis the Assisi Catholic Parish, Amikwo village, Awka where he officially dedicated and declared the Parish the newest in the Diocese, wondered why most Christians would preferred to spend fortunes in erecting for themselves gargantuan edifice while contributing little or nothing towards the development of God's dwelling place.

He enjoined Christians to shun excessive quest for materialism and to devote much of their time, energies , resources and talents to that which would glorify the name of God .

The Catholic prelate further urged Christians to always work on their spiritual life noting that by so doing it would enable them to overcome temptation and sins.

Bishop Ezeokafor, while exhorting Christians, took out his time to commend the Parish Priest, Vicars, Parish Pastoral Council and entire parishioners of St. Francis the Assisi Catholic Church for their work ethics, cooperation, sincerity of purpose and above all for the infrastructural development of the Parish.

He expressed happiness over the job done so far in the Parish noting that barely the three years after its creation they have been able to record tremendous success. 

Speaking on the feast of Basillica of St. John Lateran,he described it as the celebration of Mother of All Churches saying it was an event worth celebrating.

For his part, the Director of Fides communications Okpuno Awka South Council Area, Very Rev. Msgr. Jerome Ndubuisi Madueke, explained that the event was an one, noting that it was celebrated all over the world. He stated that the essence was to remind Christians that what they today called today Church buildings was first erected and donated to the Roman Catholic Church by Emperor Constantine.
