Breaking News: Military in a clash with Boko Haram at Bajoga, Gombe state

The Nigerian military is presently locked in battle with Boko haram insurgents who attacked Bajoga, the headquarters of Funikai Local Government Area of Gombe State, this morning, a report from the area said.
Bajoga is about 70 kilometres from Gombe town, the state capital. The attack started at about 7am, the insurgents reportedly coming in through neighbouring Yobe State, where they were repelled earlier this week by the military.
Panic-stricken residents told Daily Trust that the insurgents came in about 30 hilux vans armed with a RPGs and other weapons chanting Allahu Akbar! They, however, confirmed that a military helicopter has come in to bombard the insurgents, who are said to be moving towards Ashaka town, the home of Ashaka cement.
A resident who spoke to Daily Trust through telephone said the rampaging insurgents targeted public buildings including schools, police stations and local government secretariat.
Last month, the insurgents launched a similar attack on Nafada, also in Gombe State. A prominent Muslim cleric Sheikh Nafada, was killed in the attack while the police station, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat among others were touched.
The same day, they raided the Ashaka cement factory, carting away truckloads of dynamites.
Gombe State shares common boundaries with Yobe State where the activities of the insurgents have been quite high in the past five years.
