Tears rolled her cheeks. She
held them and her husband stared into the air. Their children were standing
askance but the matriarch of the family was full of glee and praises.
That was the mood at the
family of Mr and Mrs Thomas Ezeimo of Obiagu, Village Amichi Community, Nnewi
South local government area , Anambra state penultimate Saturday when the Anglican
Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor came to hand over a befitting
structure donated by the diocese to the family.
Poverty was written all over
them and they could not afford a decent house. Their mud house was at the verge
of collapsing, so said the Vicar of Church of the Divine Compassion , Amichi,
Reverend Canon Samson Ikedimma.
Canon Ikedimma told www.odogwublog.com that the Church went on
welfare evangelism to the village and visit them to thank God for a new baby.
And it started raining while
in their residence and the impact of the rain was like the mud house would
collapse but thanked God it did not. The house was indeed a threat.
So after the evangelism, the
Bishop was informed about the condition of the man’s house and instantly the
Bishop approved that the Diocese should build a modern house for the man with a
fence.
Luckily , the man decided to
start worshipping Jesus Christ in Anglican Communion although he was born into
a Roman Catholic family and all members of their family are still in Roman
Catholic but his mother is a member of the Sabbath. But he opted to be an
Anglican with his family.
Dedicating the building
amidst jubilation and praises, Bishop Ikeakor charged Mr Thomas and Mrs Chimarumme
Ezeimo to enjoy the facility unencumbered as the house was built for them by
the Amichi diocese unconditionally for better raising of their young family. He
said the building is a Christmas gift to them from the Anglican Communion.
Ikeakor said: ‘’ as God
gives us , so we give freely and we urge
you to use thge building to events that would glorify God.
The house is to ensure you and your family relax while worshipping God by reducing distraction associated with poor habitation.
He said the diocese of
Amichi is into serious welfare evangelism for widows, widowers and destitute as
well as less privileged in the society hence many have benefited in one way or
the other. He prayed for God’s protection upon them.
His brother Mathew Ezeimo,
still a Roman Catholic member said what the Anglican Church did for his brother
is unprecedented as he has not seen that from other churches especially in
Amichi but has witnessed Anglican doing it. He lauded Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor
for taking away poverty by 70 percent from his brother’s family. , describing
his brother as the latest landlord in town.
‘’This Bishop Ikeakor is a
true man of God . I use to hear what he does Christians and people of God in Amichi and his hometown
Umuchu in Aguata local government but today I am witnessing it in my compound.
I glorify God and ask God to grant him life and health to fulfil his ministry. He
is a real man of God, sent to bless his flock’’.
For the Principal of Holy
Child Convent , Amichi , Lady Ndoeche Ijeoma, ‘’ this is awesome , really great
, marvellous , imagine a complete house in every sense. This kind of thing doesn’t
happen everyday and it takes a god heart for a man of God to do this without
pondering on what to benefit from such venture. This family never dreamt of
this and that is the beauty of God’s intervention. May God equip the Bishop to
continue his mission and vision for mankind.
For the beneficiary, Thomas
Ezeimo, who was speechless, he managed to say’’ , I am overwhelmed . I never
anticipated this in my life in any way. God has used this man of God, Bishop
Ikeakor to butter my bread and sugar my tea unexpectedly. They never asked me
to join their Church but on my own I decided to join them if they can dream of
building a House for me just that they were on evangelism and it rained they
saw my pain whereas I have been with the Roman Catholic , all my life without
any assistance. I bless his wife and family and ask God to continue to renew
them for more welfare mission to the less privileged.
‘’I was not a member of the Anglican Church
before but I am today a member with my family unconditionally because I have
never been remembered by even a priest in the Roman Catholic Church but look at
me with a Bishop today. I have never been remembered this way.
I thought I was in a dream
but each day it becomes more real than imagined.....’’.
The Anglican diocese of
Amichi equally handed over a fence with a gate to a widow , Mrs Grace Nwosu
from Obiagu, Amichi who youths have continued to invade her home to rape her challenged
daughter. She even stopped attending to her business to be able to take care of
the daughter but during another evangelism , she was spotted and her problems
raised with the Bishop who ordered that her compound be fenced.
Her story was pathetic. She
is from Minna , Niger state but married
to Amichi and her husband is now late. She has no fence but has a beautiful
girl who is challenged mental wise and always at home. Youths leant to be visiting
her once she is away for business and have raped her severally to the extent
that she got pregnant and has delivered and to avoid the trauma she passed
through again , the fence and a gate was done for her to replace the palm
fronds.
But before then, the woman
changed faith and decided to worship His God in Anglican Communion unknown to
her that Obiagu is 90 percent Roman Catholics. She was ostracized and cajoled
to denounce her new faith but she became obsessed the more. The more her pains
increase in the community , the more she enjoys the benefits of her new faith ,
she informed.
‘’I am now very glad to be
rich in the Lord
The wife, Chimarumme and
Mother, Madam Florence Ezeimo said for the feat they Anglican Church did for them
without any condition that they have thrown their heart and mid to the Anglican
Communion. They were happy.
