No fewer than two persons have lost their lives in an auto crash which occurred along the Papalanto-Ilaro Road, off the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Eighteen other persons, including children were also seriously injured in the accident.
The auto crash occurred when two cement-laden trailers and a bus had a head-on collision.
The three vehicles involved in the auto crash include a blue Mazda bus with registration number EKY 865 XL, a Foton trailer with number plate Jigawa STK 53 XA carrying cement and an Iveco trailer also carrying cement but whose number plate had been removed.
The injured victims were taken by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to Queens Hospital, Ilaro while the corpses of the dead have been deposited at Ifo General Hospital morgue.
The FRSC Itori Unit Commander, Fatai Adesina Bakare attributed the cause of the crash to over speeding.
Bakare, however advised drivers, especially those handling trucks to “avoid recklessness on the roads; as the resultant effect of their negative driving attitude is what we are witnessing on Papa-Ilaro Road now,” he said.
