Security agents in Anambra arrest 8 car snatching suspects, recover cars, pistols

The Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Anambra state on Wednesday paraded eight suspected car snatchers along with four cars snatched from Awka and Ogidi in Idemili North local council.

The DSS also recovered two pistols from the suspects.
Parading the suspects in Awka, the state Director of DSS, Mr. Alex Okeiyi said that the identity of eight other persons would not be disclosed in order not to jeopardize the investigation of the matter.
Okeiyi commended the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for his resolve to fight crime in the state and the efforts of sister state commands in the investigation of the matter which took the command to Kaduna state.
He warned other criminal elements still engaged in snatching of cars in the state to desist forthwith in their own interest.
The arrested syndicates are Chizoba Cosmos Agwuike (aka Malife), Kingsley Ifeanyi Okpara (a.k.a- Method), Arinze Philip Nweke, Onyedika Vincent Okoye (aka- Don Pacino), Uche Ike (aka- Uche white), Umeh Kelvin Afamefuna and Uche Chibuzo (aka- Nwanwanyi Ukwuogbu).
Okeiyi further said that the identity of the eight persons would not be disclosed in order not to jeopardize the investigation of the matter.
The vehicles recovered from the suspects were Honda End-of-Discussion belonging to Anene Albert Onyemaechi which was snatched from him in Awka and Ford Escape belonging to Elochukwu Osondu, snatched from him at Ogidi by the suspects.
Other cars were Sienna Bus belonging to Christian Chike Okudo which was snatched from him in Ogidi and Toyota Camry Salon belonging to David Onyiliofor, a lawyer which was snatched from him by the suspects in Awka.
One of the victims, David Onyiliofor, a lawyer told journalists in Awka that the suspects snatched his vehicle on August 27, 2014, at Dr. Hezekiah Dike Street in Awka when his wife died.
He said that how he survived the trauma was through the help of God during that period, while commending the DSS for their gallant effort when he had reported to the police without any result.
One of the suspects, 20-year-old Chizoba Agwuike, said they sold some of the vehicles between the range of N250, 000 and N300, 000 respectively.
Also, another suspect, Arnize said he joined the group when he came back from Togo because of hardship, adding that he had only made N50,000 from the business.
