Obijackson Foundation Gives out Sets of computers, Cash gifts to Quiz competition winners



The Group Managing Director of NESTOIL PLC and Founder of Obijackson Foundation, Dr. (Sir) Ernest Azudialu Obiejesi, has presented free computer sets, printers and cash prizes to 12 primary and secondary schools in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state.


The 12 schools emerged first, second and third positions out of 51 schools that participated at the 2014 annual Face of Okija Quiz Competition organized by Obijackson Foundation early March this year.

The benefiting schools were Adaogbe Migrants Fishermen School; Umuatuegwu Primary School; and ThankGod Special School which came first, second and third positions respectively under category “A” involving primary one to primary six pupils.

Others include ThankGod Special School, Igwugwuabo Community School, and Good shepherd Primary School, the victors of category B (Primary4-6); while the category C (JSS1-3) winners were Okija Grammar School, Royal International Secondary School, and Bethel Standard School; but their counterparts, Holy Family Comprehensive Secondary School, Union Secondary School, Royal International Secondary School topped category D (SSS1 to SSS3 students).

Odogwblog.com recalled that the Oral Quiz Competition conducted on Mathematics, English and Igbo Languages in accordance to official school syllables had three participants (representatives) per a school.

Also, envelopes containing undisclosed amounts of money were issued to each of the pupil and student who represented the winning schools at the quiz competition.
The gifts were presented by the Manager of Obijackson Foundation, an Architect  and a lawyer, James Akporero, on behalf of his principal, Sir Obiejesi.
Akporero, who reiterated that each of the three individuals who had led their schools to victory during the quiz competition would enjoy scholarship as earlier promised, also admonished students to face their studies squarely with a view to making their schools and country proud.

He added that students of Okija origin who could garner distinction in SSCE examinations shall gain automatic scholarship to any university of his/her choice in the world from first degree to PhD level, courtesy of the foundation.

According to Akporero, the Oil Magnet introduced the brainwork so as to easily reach out to the poorest of the poor via education and inspire them to be great in life as education remains the key to uplift individuals and further close the gaps between the rich and the poor.

He advised teachers to properly utilize the computers to inculcate the basics of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) into their pupils and students.

On her part, the Face of Okija, Queen Ezinne Ejezie tasked beneficiaries to see the gifts as a call to strive more hard in all their academic endeavours.

Responding in a separate interview, the Head Teacher of Adaogbe Migrants Fishermen Primary School, Lady Dioha Ugochi, and Mr. Odinakachi Ahamefune, SS3 students  teacher of Holy Family Comprehensive Secondary School, Okija  expressed commitment on improving their efforts and vowed to intensify efforts on their teaching and learning processes.
