Describing contributions to worthy societal
causes as a corporal work of mercy, Obi said that there are much joy and peace
derivable from such acts than use the money to engage in conspicuous and
wasteful expenditure.
Speaking on behalf of the Proprietor of the School and the Catholic Bishop of Awgwu, Most Rev. Dr. John Okoye, the Manager of the School, Rev. Fr. Titus Udeh said the entire Diocese thanked Mr. Obi for the revolution he engendered in Anambra State through return of Schools to the Church and his continued support to the schools even after he left office. He said that Obi's commitment to good governance in all its ramifications is a challenge to Nigerians on practical exemplification of patriotism.
Earlier in her welcome address by the Senior Prefect of the School, Ruth Chukwu, who bagged one year scholarship from Obi for a masterly and extempore delivery, said that the school had remained a bastion of academic and moral excellence. He enumerated the problem facing them to include lack of water, school bus, dilapidated hostel and library buildings as well is threat by erosion due to the topography of the school.
Mr. Obi who also donated the cheque of N2 Million Naira to the Rev. Sisters of St. Benedictine Abbey, Umuoji, said that he raised the money through support and goodwill of organizations.
