Ndubisi Obiadi
A lawyer, Mr Ndubisi Obiadi from Adazi-Nnukwu in
Aniocha local government Area of Anambra State is an Aspirant to the Anambra
State House of Assembly under All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
He wants to represent Anaocha constituency 1 and
he has all it takes to win the APGA primaries election by Tuesday next week
being December 3rd, 2014.
In this Exclusive interview with www.odogwublog.com
in Awka , Obiadi who has led youths from his constituency in both Anambra and
Enugu states said his love for service to humanity coupled with his bar
experience for 7 years and other offices he occupied before now has prepared
him for the service to his people in the House of Assembly.
Why Politics now?
I have been in politics but not as a contender.
And having been a good follower and having garnered experience, I decided to
serve my people more in a bigger capacity.
And I am a man of the people and I have the
interest of my people at heart. I want to work for my people. I want to bring
changes into their lives. I want to bring down good dividends of democracy to
my people and make their lives to be better than it is now.
I have worked in various aspects and held
various positions like the Igbo Youth Transformation Agenda and
Adazi-Nnukwu Youth Forum. I have headed various associations and by these,
making people to understand what leadership is all about, both in Anambra and
Enugu States. I have made a resounding impact in the lives of many including
the physically challenged persons and orphanages by a way of giving them a
sense of belonging. We have given a few scholarship to deserving students to
study as a way of improving their lives and providing them also with some basic
needs.
How will you do that?
The work of the Lawmaker is not execution of
projects but when in harmony and supportive for good governance and
administration, a lawmaker attracts a lot for his people and that I will do.
And by being transparent and honest with my representation integrity and
confidence would be restored in politics.
I will attract these democracy dividends by
supporting the Governor , Chief Willie Obiano who is doing marvelous work in
our dear State now. He is sustaining the feats in Education, health care ,
roads and above all security . He has sanitized Anambra of hoodlums and
criminals. We are hopeful of celebrating the Christmas without a single crime
record.
Why House of Assembly straight?
Where do you want me to start from? If you are
talking about financial involvement, yes, it is not easy and the financial
muscle to pursue the election is not the problem because, if you are a man of
the people and you are in the peoples heart and they made you their choice, I
don’t believes that you need so much money to prosecute the election. Though in
Nigeria politics is always monetary affair but by the special grace of God, we
will let the people understand that politics is not all about money but who the
people wants and their choice.
For my people, my constituency and Ndi Anambra
entirely, what I have for them is innumerable and I will assure them that
mainly their interest would be priority at all times. I will Make sure that we
pass bills and motions that will benefit them positively and make laws that
will be of good interest of Ndi-Anambra State and not only for the interest of
the executives alone or legislators but for the interest of masses.
As an aspirant into the State House of Assembly,
how will you describe the rascality that just happened in the National Assembly
recently?
It was an abuse of the rule of law and not
exemplary at all if we are talking about repositioning Nigeria as Africa’s
number one nation. It is quite unfortunate, condemnable and uncalled for. Why
would the Speaker allow such a scene to be created? He would have quickly
retraced until the situations that warranted his restriction is
addressed. It is shameful and sad that such a thing happened in the midst
of those representing us at the Federal level, jumping gate and all that. It
portrayed our image in a bad light outside the world. We are all gentlemen. If
something like that happened, we should exhibit some level of maturity.
That was why the Boko Haram insurgency has not
gotten a direction needed for its final death sentence. The opposition party
play politics with everything including security of the country. And you see it
glaring raising false alarms and yet compounding issues. The moles in the
security of the country are not helping matters too. Look out how they messed
up the trial of the Nyannya bomber sequel to bickering between the police and
the DSSS.
Governor Obiano’s rating?
Yes, our governor is doing perfectly great! He
is just seven months in office and have achieved heavily. He has shown the
people of Anambra State what it actually means to be a good leader. Governor
Obiano has already exceeded expectations in the performance of the Four Pillars
of Development he set for the State by effectively fighting crime amongst other
things. He has within this short period targeted at turning Awka the State
capital to look like State capital.
Now there are three flyovers springing up at the
same time and changing the landscape of Nigeria’s most rustic state capital. He
has transformed the Agricultural sector with the Billions of Dollars investors
he attracted and soon Anambra would be a fish destination state in the country.
Look at the security challenges in Anambra is now becoming a thing of past.
A close observation of Obiano’s seven-month old
administration can attest to the fact that for the first time in a long while,
Anambra State is witnessing a structured approach to governance. Obiano’s
philosophy of governance is inclusive and open. Bringing his years in the
commanding height of the private sector to bear on governance, Obiano had
outlined his Vision and Mission in the government house from the outset.
Right from the election campaign days, Obiano
had told Ndi Anambra that his vision was for Anambra State to become the 1st
Choice Investment Destination and a hub for industrialization and
commercial activities while his mission was to create a socially stable,
business friendly environment that will attract both indigenes & foreigners
to seek wealth creating opportunities in Anambra State. So, he knew where he
was going and how to get there.
Again, it may not be certain but it would say
that Obiano is probably the first governor of Anambra State to articulate a
vision and mission statement that would guide him in office. The statements
serve as a compass for focused leadership. At the moment, Obiano has done a
good job of keeping his eyes on the prize.
APGA, Chief Victor Umeh and crisis?
There is no family even couple without its own
share of crisis and the ability to manage the crisis is what is important. And
no matter how one looks at it I will say yes, the party leadership led by Chief
Victor Umeh as National Chairman is doing perfectly well to uphold the legacies
of our great hero Chief Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu to make sure that Igbos
are united under one umbrella and to make sure that we stand on what we say.
APGA is not just a political party but a family that brings every Igbo race
together and Chief Umeh has done well to maintain the Status.
Ndi Anambra and forthcoming election.
First and foremost , each electorate must ensure
his or her permanent voters card is with him or her and that he or she would
use it wisely to elect a candidate of his or her choice. And I want to use this
medium to appeal to the Christian family to come out and participate in
politics as they would not be outside to change the way things are done in the
political clime that made many think it is a dirty game .
I want to use this medium to appeal to Ndi Anambra
both home and abroad to come back home and join us in the forthcoming general
election 2015. Let them come back and support us and equally support our
president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2015. Let us support our governor
Chief Willie Obiano Akpokuedike and wife, Chief Mrs Eberechukwu Obiano
–Osodieme to elect quality people that will work with him and bless Anambra
State rather than those that will bring curse to the state. This interview is exclusively published by www.odogwublog.com
