For the second season in a row, former CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba International of Aba, has retained the Federation Cup.
This time, Dolphins of Port-Harcourt was the team that fell at the feet of the Aba Elephants 2-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
Glo Premier League highest goal scorer Mfon Udoh capped a brilliant individual season for Enyimba International as his team overcame Dolphins Federa¬tion Cup final.
His goal early in the second half proved decisive as the People’s Elephants were rewarded with a silverware.
Dolphins will have their goalkeeper Rotimi Sunday to blame for his complicity in the second goal that Enyimba scored as his mistake led to the second goal that saw his team as runners-up again at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. The introduction of substitutes Rasheed Olabiyi and Nzube Anazaemba also propelled Enyimba to a second Cup title in two con¬secutive season.
For Dolphins, their sea¬son will now be regarded as a relative disappointment after failing to add a trophy to their rich cabinet.
The winning team were on the back foot early on when strings of efforts from Emem Eduok put Femi Thomas in goal for Enyimba under pressure.
Enyimba were coping comfortably as Dolphins left Eduok too isolated at times. Emeka Atuloma was also being forced to drop too deep to offer support to the beleaguered Victor Alegbe and Ebube Okpok¬wu rather than add attack-ing potency to the game.
The quiet Mfon stormed off the blocks in the 55th minute when he profited from a brilliant pass from Markson Ojobo to shoot the ball into the right hand side of Rotimi’s post.
