Bishop Ibezim Condemns False Report Against Obiano’s Wife

The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese Rt. Rev Dr. Alexander Ibezim has condemned a report which emanated from the internet and was carried by some careless publications alleging that the Anambra State Governor’s wife slapped the Deputy Governor’s wife at the dedication of his child last Sunday. He described the story as false and fabricated by persons who do not have good intentions. Rt. Rev Dr.  Ibezim who was speaking to a cross-section of Journalists at the Bishop’s Court before Sunday Service, said that he was appalled at the allegation.

According to the Archbishop, “I was with Wife of the Anambra State Governor Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano who also represented her husband. We were together with the Deputy Governor Dr. Nkem Okeke and his wife Oby and no such thing happened until I escorted them when they were going. It is all lies.”  Continuing the Bishop said, “You can imagine my surprise when people were calling my wife and I over something we knew nothing about, or any person at the event, that such happened at the dedication service for our son Joshua.”

“I can’t imagine the shock and revulsion felt by the wife of the governor and the deputy governor over such fabrication. My advice to them is that they should see it as one of those things that come with being in public office and ignore that and move on.”

On the other hand the Bishop Ibezim, “journalists should be careful in their reports to avoid making unsubstantiated claims and allegations that may tarnish the image of the innocent. They should strive for the truth at all times rather than mislead unsuspecting members of the public. Concluding Dr. Ibezim observed, I would not have bordered with this briefing because I saw through the lies immediately I heard the story, but for the fact that the writer mentioned that it happened at my own Church where I know that we spent time together with other guests from the church service to the tent where the reception was held.

The Wife of the Deputy governor Mrs. Oby Okeke had earlier issued a disclaimer on the said report.

So whatever he said in favor of the Government must be seen from the point of Jaundiced person ,because he has interest to protect .Sorry is that same BISHOP IBEZIM that followed the Governor to NKWELE EZUNAKA when the Church was burnt down ? is he the same one making the above statement ? if he is the one ,then i have no comment because in ANGLICAN COMMUNION and even in other Churches ,you do not enter another Bishop,s diocese and hold brief for him without his permission but he went to Nkwele Ezunaka and wants to usurp the Diocses of the NIGER UNDER BISHOP OWEN NWOKOLO ,he did that to appease the Governor ,so if he is the same Bishop ,i will simply ask the Bar man to bring me a Glass of Crystal Champagne
