Why The APC Dropped Going To ECOWAS Court

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dropped the idea of furthering its Nov 16, 2013 governorship election petition against Anambra state Governor Chief Willie Obiano in the ECOWAS Court. APC rather commended Obiano for his pragmatic programmes especially on security.  

This was disclosed by APC Lagos Publicity Secretary, Mr Joe Igbokwe during a presentation at the just concluded Anambra Security summit in Lagos.

Igbokwe who lauded the governor during the recent Security Fund raising event organized by the State Government at MUSON Centre, Lagos, noted that, “I came here today because I identify with good ideas, you have shown great vision. I have heard testimonies and also seen what you are doing. Ordinarily, we would still challenge your mandate up to the ECOWAS Court but I have to advise my people that it is no longer necessary and I can attest that you are doing well and our people support you.

“You are doing better than most governors across the country and if you continue that way Anambra would soon be better than Lagos. Well done!” Igbokwe added.

The Lagos state APC image maker, an indigene of Anambra state, in his statement testified that governor Obiano was already doing very well especially in the area of security of lives and property.

According to him, “it is much better than what is happening across some parts of the country and urged him to keep up the great job.”

He admitted frankly that an objective assessment of the Obiano administration is a welcome development in an era of politics of rancor and winner takes all. It shows that Obiano’s style of inclusive governance is being embraced across all divides, and it is good for the polity.”

  Odogwu Media reports that a chieftain of APGA is begging APC to go to ECOWAS court as the party would not share any position with them having not seen reason when it was important. She said the move by      APC is belated as the Governor had made all entreaties to make the APC understand the election was free and fair only to do a u-turn when the Supreme court had given the final verdict as the highest court in the country against their wish.
