A former trustee and Executive
Secretary of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and one-time Commissioner
for Education in the old Bendel State, Chief Tayo Akpata, 83, is dead.
Chief Akpata passed away at his
residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday morning.
A press statement from the family
confirmed the death of Chief Akpata, who was, until his death, the Ima of
Benin.
The deceased was a one-time chairman
of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); Pipeline and Products Marketing Company
(PPMC), a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), as well
as the chairman of Siemens Nigeria.
He is survived by his wife, Olabisi,
children and grandchildren.
