Master Oluwatomiwa Abraham Ogunleye
was born on October 10, 2010, in Osun State. He was expected to celebrate his
fourth birthday on Friday last week.
But that was not to be. Instead of
celebration, the mother, Titilope Oyewole is fasting and praying to God to
bring a helper her way.
The family appealed to Governor Rauf Aregbesola to intervene.
She gave her bank details and
contacts as follows: Titilope Oyewole, Wema Bank Plc, account number:
0226456809, Tel No: 08132714060, Email: [email protected]
Master Ogunleye is presently down
with a strange illness that seems to have defied all known scientific logics
and her mother is truly disturbed and uncomfortable.
This strange illness began when the
boy was barely four months old.
According to the mother, the illness
started as malaria and jaundice, as the boy was running abnormal temperature.
Mrs. Oyewole explained that the
little boy was rushed to Cyfer Hospital in Osun State for treatment, where he
was given anti-biotic treatment and the temperature returned to normal.
She said days after, the high
temperature returned and the boy was again rushed to the same hospital for
treatment.
But after series of tests and
diagnosis by the doctors at the hospital, the mother said it was discovered
that Master Ogunleye had water and puss inside his brain, and that was why his
head continued to swell up.
The doctors on duty at Cyfer
hospital in Osun at that point advised the mother to take the boy to either the
University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Obafemi Awolowo University
Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) Ile Ife, or the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital
(LASUTH), Ikeja for possible surgery.
"I decided to come to LASUTH
and between then and now, I have spent close to N1 million on MRI and CT scans
in addition to other incidental expenses", she said.
The mother further disclosed that
she had to foot the entire medical bills because her husband is a jobless man,
having been retrenched as a banker with the United Bank for Africa Plc during
the consolidation exercise that swept through the banking sector in 2008.
"Ever since then, the father
has been looking for another job, leaving me alone to foot the medical bill of
our son", she lamented.
At LASUTH, one Dr Idowu of the
neuro-surgery department and Dr Bankole of the same hospital carried out the
first operation for the boy around July 2012.
Since then, the ailing four-year-old
boy has been undergoing regular medical checkups at LASUTH. The mother has also
taken him to various churches in Osun and Lagos States for possible deliverance
without success.
But while in LASUTH, the woman came
across one Afolabi, president of Festus Fajemilo Foundation, whose secretariat
is located at Abule Egba in Lagos.
Afolabi in turn referred her to
Me-Cure Health Care Limited, located along Apapa-Oshodi expressway in Lagos for
further medical assistance.
Titilope Oyewole, who has three
other children, lamented that she has been footing the medical bills of her
ailing son with her meagre salary of N45, 000 since the ailment was first
diagnosed in 2010.
With the cry of a mother, she is
passionately appealing to public spirited individuals, government agencies,
corporate bodies and non-governmental organizations to come to her aid.
She is planning to raise N15 million
as advised by medical personnel at Me-Cure Health Care Limited and LASUTH
travel to a hospital in the United States of America to conduct a neuro-surgery
to remedy the challenges presently facing her son.
"I have succeeded in getting a
passport for my son having made contacts with some medical personnel in the
United States, who are ready to carry out the surgery" she said.
