Lady Gloria Nkiruka Okeke Celebrates Her Retirement In Grand Style

It was encomium and jubilation galore penultimate weekend in Awka, Anambra state capital as Lady Gloria Nkiruka Okeke, former Permanent Secretary, deputy governor's office, Anambra state, bowed out from civil service after working for 35years in the system.

The celebration which started with a thanksgiving service at Winner's Chapel was graced by top government officials and people from all walks of life who gathered to rejoice with the former Permanent Secretary, Mrs Okeke.

It was a day to remember as the event was graced by distinguished government functionaries representing themselves and the government of Anambra state like Hon Norbert Obi, commissioner for special duties Anambra state, Sir Vin Ezechukwu, Rtd Perm Secretary, Barr (Mrs) Ngozi Meluifeonwu, chairman Civil Service Commission, Anambra, HRH Igwe J.N Obiora of Achina and Hon 0.C Ezechukwu PG Achina Town and some eminent personalities and other well-meaning Anambrarians from all walks of life too numerous to mention.





In his sermon, Pastor  Adeyemi Adeyemi Amos  called on the people to always remember that whatever they are or have, come from God and to Him alone should all the glory return and not to idols.

He commended Mrs Okeke for realizing that and opting to first have a thanksgiving service to thank God for the gift of a successful 35years in service to humanity, rather than going to the idols to make sacrifices.

Pastor  Adeyemi Adeyemi said, “God has given us individual talents and his grace has always been with us. It is important that we remember to be responsible and hard working and to do things at the right time. This celebration today calls us to be honest, to know that having known Christ we should maintain our relationship with Christ as it would be heartbreaking for us to give thanks meant for Christ to idols.”

Shortly after the service, they proceeded to Parktonia Hotels were the celebrant entertained her guests with assorted foods and drinks.

Speaking to Odogwu Media on her celebration, Mrs Okeke expressed gratitude to God for making her 35years in the civil service a successful one.

She said, "I feel happy and fulfilled because what God sent me to do in the Civil Service, I consider myself to have achieved it and I thank God for granting me the opportunity and giving me good health and I am very delighted for that privilege."

When Odogwu Media asked her about her next line of action having retired, she said, "next is cruising level. Now, service has started to the entire nation. I have retired but never tired, "she argued.
 
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Okey Okpala charged those who are still in the service to emulate Mrs Okeke's enduring character and always be humble to serve humanity, even as he argued that no one can succeed in office like this without the spirit of endurance.

According to him, Mrs Okeke has empowered many people during her service in the state.

During her service years, she has moved from different ministries and the last three she worked in  as a Permanent secretary were  the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Ministry of Women Affairs and office of the Deputy Governor before retiring peacefully to take other challenges which she has already started in the vine yard of God.

To start with, am extremely elated that ma big mum celebrates her retirement in the office of permanent secretary after many years of being there peacefully "odiro easy" . further more I must say that she did her best, lived a legacy, she a state woman, an icon that can never be discarded .God will continue to bless you and give you more life to eat the fruit of your labour long live mum.Amen.
